PSLE Admission/Registration 2026

The Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) has been administered annually since 1967. From 2007 onwards, it hasbeen administered by the Botswana Examinations Council to grade 7 (ISCED 1) students in public and private schools.

The PSLE is a low-stake examination that certifies completion of primary education. Passing the PSLE allows reintegration of out-of-school children and youth into the school system at the next appropriate grade.

The PSLE is a written examination, administered face-to-face and delivered through paper-pencil tests. All test-takers are presented with the same cognitive booklets or tests, which are aligned with the national curriculum.

The PSLE serves the following purposes:

– student certification for completion of primary education

– designing individualised instructional plans

– supporting teachers (training, relevant materials, etc.)

– school or educator accountability

– sub-national level monitoring of learning outcomes

– monitoring education quality levels

– planning education policy reforms

The 2025 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) registration will start on the January to  February 2026.

All Private Primary Schools or Centres are expected to pay examination fees as follows :

After capturing of the candidate’s information in the examinations system, Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) will forward to the private centre the invoice showing outstanding fees and method of payments.

Upon completion of the registration forms,  centres  may send the forms by post to the:

Gaborone.

Alternatively, they can send the application forms by courier or hand deliver them to BEC at Plot 54864, KT Motsete Road. The telephone number is 3650700.

1. Application for BEC Centre Status

Those Institutions that wish to register as BEC PSLE centres are required to submit letters of application to BEC before January 2025 so that an inspection may be carried out before awarding or denying individual centres a centre status.

Individual private candidates may register for 2025 PSLE at the following centres:

1. Naledi Education Centre (Gaborone)
2. Gabane Private School (Gabane)
3. Disoli’s Building and Civil Construction (Gaborone)
4. Bosele Private School (Gaborone Block 6)
