The National Identification Authority (NIDA) is a government institution established under the Establishment Instrument, 2008 (GN 122/2008) of the United Republic of Tanzania. It is mandated to register and identify people living in Tanzania and to issue National Identification Cards to eligible individuals.
Responsibilities: To issue Identity Cards to Tanzanians and Foreign Residents of Tanzania and to maintain an Identification Register with the aim of enhancing security and economic and social peace for the development of the Nation.
