The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) of the United Republic of Tanzania was established by an act of Parliament No. 22 of 1991 to address the growing needs of the shipping industry in the region. Prior to its establishment by the act of parliament, the institute was known as Dar es Salaam Maritime Training Unit (DMTU) founded on the 3rd of July, 1978 under the umbrella of the Ministry responsible for maritime affairs to fulfil the need for well-trained and certified seafarers for the country.

Master Degree (NTA Level 9) in either of the following;
Offshore Engineering
Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
Ship Building Technology, Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or equivalent qualification with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5, and minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5 at Bachelor Degree level.
2: ASSISTANT LECTURER (OIL AND GAS ENGINEERING) (2 Positions)

Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Petroleum Geoscience or equivalent qualification with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5, and minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5 at Bachelor Degree level.
3: ASSISTANT LECTURER (MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING) (1 Position)
Qualifications
Master Degree (NTA Level 9) in Mechatronic Engineering,
Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering,
Industrial Automation and Robotics, Systems and Control Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering, Electromechanical Systems Engineering or equivalent qualification with a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5, and minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5 at Bachelor Degree level.
4: ICT OFFICER II (NETWORK ADMINISTRATION) (1 Position)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information System and Network Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, from recognized institutions. Professional certificates in network CCNA, or others will be an added advantage.
5: TECHNICIAN II (REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING) (1 Position)Â Â
Qualifications
Diploma (NTA level 6) in Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from recognized institution.
6: TECHNICIAN II ( OIL AND GAS TECHNOLOGY) (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities
To carry out specified tasks connected with simulator/ workshop/ laboratory practical, students’ projects, research, consultancy and services under close supervision.
To assist in the repair and maintenance of simulator/ workshop/ laboratory facilities.
To assist senior staff in related fields of operation.
Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Diploma (NTA level 6) in Oil and Gas technology or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution.
7: TUTORIAL ASSISTANT (HYDROGRAPHY SURVEY) (2 Positions)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (NTA Level 8) in Hydrographic Survey or equivalent qualifications with a minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5 from a recognized Institution.
8: TUTORIAL ASSISTANT ( FISHERIES TECHNOLOGY) (2 Positions)
Qualifications
