Mainland Tanzania (Tanganyika) was under German colonial rule from 1884 to 1916 and British rule from 1917 to 1961. Tanganyika gained independence peacefully.
Tanga District is one of the districts established during colonial rule under the North Eastern Province, with Tanga as its headquarters. After independence in 1961, the Government developed an administrative system at the Central Government and Local Government levels, with subsequent changes aimed at meeting the needs of the nationalist government. Tanga District originally included Muheza, Mkinga and Tanga Districts
Since 1961 Tanga District has had a Town Council which was upgraded to a Municipality in 1983 and to a City Council in 2005.
Geography and Boundaries
Tanga City is located at longitudes 38o53’ and 39o10’ east and latitudes 5o and 5o16’ south of the Equator. Tanga City is located in the North-East of Tanzania, bordering Muheza District Council to the West and South, Mkinga District Council to the North and the Indian Ocean to the East. Tanga is located 350 km north of Dar es Salaam and 250 km south of Mombasa.

1.0 TEACHERS (30 POSITIONS)
(a) QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Applicants must possess a Diploma or Certificate in Education/Teaching with at least one teaching subject or higher qualification from a Government-recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. To prepare work schemes, lesson plans, lesson notes, and teaching plans in accordance with the approved curriculum.
ii. To prepare and use appropriate teaching and learning materials.
iii. To teach, assess, and keep records of students’ academic progress.
iv. To supervise and monitor students’ attendance at school and in class.
v. To identify students’ talents in sports, arts, languages, and provide counseling and guidance.
vi. To provide professional and educational advice regarding the development of education.
vii. To manage discipline and adherence to rules and regulations within the school.
viii. To perform any other duties assigned by the School Head in accordance with school responsibilities.
