The Fire and Rescue Training Institute established 1966 as a training unity aimed to provide internal training for Fire and Rescue Staffs’ The Unity centered at Dar Es Salaam International Airport by that time (Julius Nyerere International Airport now) terminal one buildings.
The growth of Science and technology in the world force many people to require disasters and risk management skills. Due to this, Fire and Rescue Training Institute decided to expand its provision of training from teaching staff only to the whole public. So in 2019 the Institute registered under National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) for NTA Level 4 and in 2022 started to register NTA level 5 and 6.

Call for Training Fire and Rescue Force Tanzania 2026
The Fire and Rescue Service announces the names of the selected youth to attend the Military Training at the Constable level of the Fire and Rescue Service.
The candidates are required to arrive at the Fire and Rescue Service Academy located in Chogo, Handeni District, Tanga Region from 19 to 21 January, 2026 without fail;
for those who do not arrive at the academy on the mentioned dates, they will not be received and their place will be taken by someone else.
To arrive at the academy, get off at Kabuku station in Handeni District, located 12 kilometers from the academy. The academy has prepared a special procedure to receive them on the mentioned dates, from 12 am to 4 pm.
The candidate will cover his/her own travel expenses, food and accommodation for all the days that he/she is not received at the Academy.
The applicant should bring original certificates of education, profession or skills applied for, birth certificate, NIDA ID or number, identification letter (NaPA), original letter of application for employment and a valid driver’s license for those applying for a driver’s license. All certificates should be in triplicate for each certificate. In addition, the certificates will be checked and those who are found to have a certificate/certificates with defects will be returned.
When the applicant arrives at the college, he/she should be ready to undergo a physical and mental health check-up.
Those who are found to have a health problem will not be allowed to continue with the training and will be returned at their own expense.
All participants are required to have a suitcase (trunk), health insurance for those who have it, or they are required to have some money for personal use and other money to purchase the following equipment which is available at the College store:- two (02) blue sheets, 01 blue pillow and 02 blue pillowcases, 01 blue mosquito net (round), 20 liter plastic bucket, a plate and a tin cup, sports rubbers, 1 blue T-shirt, 5 large notebooks, sports clothes (truck suit, blue jacket, and T-shirt) and a pen.
