Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) seeks to appoint the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who is either from within or outside the United Republic of Tanzania. Institutional Background Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) is a full fledged University since 2014. It is located
in Iringa Municipality, the Southern Highlands in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The University is established and owned by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) as a private- secular University open for all eligible people regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political affiliation or station in life.
The University is governed and administered in accordance with the Universitiesn Act, 2005, TCU guidelines as well as the Catholic Church Policy on Higher Education Institutions –Ex Corde Ecclesiae– and the provisions of the Charter establishing the University and rules thereof.
The University Motto is Academic Excellence and Moral Finesse.
The University has five faculties and one institute.

Position: Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic
Duties and Responsibilities
a) The duties of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs shall be inter alia:
i. To assist the Vice Chancellor in the performance of his/her duties and in that regard be responsible for the academic affairs of the University.
ii. In the absence of the Vice Chancellor, shall perform the functions of the Vice Chancellor.
iii. To perform such other functions that may be delegated to him or her by the Vice Chancellor.
iv. To provide a day-to-day academic leadership and co-ordination of research and community service/outreach.
v. To ensure effective and efficient implementation of policies on teaching and research in order to maintain academic standards of the University.
vi. To evaluate curricula offered by the University and proposing reforms in
accordance with national education policies and job market requirements.
vii. To oversee quality assurance in the University.
viii.To plan and supervise services, research and training activities of the University.
ix. To direct and supervise senior management team responsible for academic and related functions to ensure that each performs to expected level of excellence.
x. To implement academic policies, directives and decisions of the University Council in order to achieve desired outcomes.
xi. To perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor, Senate and Council.
Qualifications
The applicant should be at the rank of either an associate professor or a professor experienced in leadership University leadership.
