The history of the establishment of JKT dates back to 1958 during the visit of the National Leaders to Ghana, where the Father of the Nation Mwl. Nyerere and Hon. Rashid Kawawa (Simba wa Vita) went to attend the celebrations commemorating the first anniversary of the country’s independence.

1. Be a citizen of Tanzania.
2. Age.
a. For Young People with Grade Seven Education from Tanzania Mainland and Young People with Form Two Education from Zanzibar, the age is from 16 to 18 years, who completed from 2022,
2023, 2024, 2025 and have an original certificate of completion of Basic Education and Form Two.
b. Young People with Form Four Education, the age should not be more than 20 years, who completed Secondary Education from 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and have an original certificate of completion of Secondary Education (Secondary Leaving Certificate) and an original certificate of results (Academic Certificate). Have a First Class to Fourth Class pass. A Young Person with Fourth Class should have a pass mark from 26 to 32.
c. Young people with Form Six Education should not be more than 22 years old, who completed Secondary Education from 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and have an original Secondary Leaving Certificate and an original Academic Certificate. Have a pass rate from First Class to Fourth Class.
d. Young people with Diploma Education should not be more than 25 years old, have Secondary Certificate and College Certificate.
e. Young people with Bachelor Education should not be more than 26 years old, have Secondary Certificate and College Certificate.
f. Young people with Master’s Degree Education should not be more than 27 years old, have Secondary Certificate and College Certificate.
3. Be in good health, sound mind and do not have any marks of drawings on the body (Tattoo).
4. Of good character and discipline, has not been convicted in court and has never been imprisoned.
5. Has a National Identity Card or an identification number from the National Identification Authority (NIDA).
6. Has an original birth certificate.
7. Has not served in the Police Force, Prisons, Training College or the Special Anti-Smuggling Force or been employed by any other government department.
8. Has not undergone previous JKT Operations for the Volunteer Group and the Mandatory Group (Legal Responsibility).
9. Has not been involved in the use of drugs, marijuana and similar substances.
10. Note: A young person found with forged documents will be subject to strict legal action according to existing procedures.
