The Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC) was established in 2000 by the Government Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997. The objective of its establishment was to fill the gap of having an integrated training institution for the public service to meet the changing needs of the public service caused by the reforms of the public service and the need for an independent public service college with sustainable financial capacity.

As a result, TPSC is a preferred provider of knowledge and skills for the public service in the areas of leadership, strategic management, governance, ethics and accountability. It is also an institution for building a culture of continuous learning for public servants. TPSC’s clients include Central and Local Governments, independent departments, Government Agencies, secondary school graduates, the general public and the private sector.

TPSC has six strategically located Campuses in Dar es Salaam, Tabora, Mtwara, Singida, Tanga and Mbeya along with an Online Training Centre to be close to its clients across the country.

The institution offers courses at three levels of Certificate (Basic Technician Certificate), Diploma and First Degree (BA) suitable for the public and private sectors in its Campuses. In addition to these programs, TPSC offers review courses for Civil Service Examinations and Counseling Services. It has recently started using the Career-Based Education and Training (CBET) model as a means of development, a way to get quality Education and Training that meets the needs of a permanent and fast-paced job market.
