New Vacancies at CCBRT April 2026, Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the preferred provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves – as healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes – the community and the most vulnerable. CCBRT is Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services in the country. We’re committed to empower people with disabilities and their families, improving their quality of life, and ensuring access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. We prevent lifelong
disabilities wherever possible, and are therefore also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Our Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
1: Medical Doctor
The role
Examining and treating patients in both the outpatient and inpatient departments, which includes running scheduled clinics, screening of patients, admitting patients to the ward, prepare operation lists and update Senior Medical Doctors/Specialist on patients’ conditions due to be discharged. While the main part of your job will take place in the said departments, there will be opportunities to do minor surgical procedures and assist senior surgeons during major operations as well as participating in outreach activities (if applicable).
Furthermore, you will work in shifts whereby you rotate in on-call duties and therefore preparedness to work nights shifts as well as weekends is an important aspect of the job.
The candidate
• Holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from a recognized institution with successful completion of one year internship. (minimal GPA of 2.7 at undergraduate level)
• 1 year of post-intern working experience with a reputable organization.
• Registered with the Tanganyika Medical Council as medical doctor.
• Has a valid (2026) practitioner license
• Computer literate
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both English and Swahili)
• Team-worker with client focus
• A pro-active attitude and eagerness to work

2: Opthalmologist – (Eye Specialist)
The role
Provide quality medical and surgical care to patients in the Eye Department at CCBRT, operating in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient department (IPD), and Operating Theatre department (OTD). Provide quality clinical services, which include, but is not limited to Attending OPD clinics (as necessary) for screening Eye clients, Review patients presented to you by junior doctors for your specialized opinion; Conduct eye surgeries; Participate in on call duties when applicable; Participate in ward rounds, Examining patients, and assist in making a decision for patients scheduled for operation.
Supervise junior doctors at OPD and in the ward; Attend and receive the morning briefing report every day or as may be scheduled; Offer expert specialized opinion to all patients who might need your service in your department and other departments when requested for consultation; Contribute to marketing CCBRT eye services; Participate in clinical audits, clinical research and provide
medical legal advice whenever needed; Be involved in developing disease guidelines, protocols and standard operating procedures for eye services; Ensure quality of medical data; Contribute to the establishment of a learning & research culture at CCBRT;
The candidate
• Master Degree in Medicine with specialization in Opthalmology from a recognized institution. Registered by Medical Council of Tanganyika as MMED in Opthalmology.
• At least 3 years’ experience as Opthalmologist
• Competent to perform all medical and invasive procedures relevant for the area of practice.
• Strong planning skills and a methodological approach to problem solving.
• Effective counseling skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both English and Swahili)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Computer literate
• Has a valid (2026) practitioner license
• A pro-active attitude and eagerness to work
