Job Vacancies at SONAMCU Ltd October 2026, Songea Namtumbo Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Union Ltd (SONAMCU Ltd) has announced seven employment opportunities for qualified and committed Tanzanians at its Head Office in Songea, Ruvuma Region.
The Union is inviting applications for positions in accounts, internal audit, procurement and driving. The available opportunities include Assistant Accounts Officer, Internal Audit Officer, Procurement Officer and Driver.
SONAMCU Ltd was established in 2003 and operates under the Co-operative Societies Act No. 6 of 2013, as amended in 2025. The Union brings together 62 primary agricultural co-operative societies, mainly involved in tobacco farming across Songea and Namtumbo Districts.
The organisation focuses on improving the efficiency of tobacco marketing while providing essential services, capacity building and other support to its member societies.
The advertised opportunities are based at the SONAMCU Ltd Head Office in Songea.

1. Assistant Accounts Officer
Number of Posts: 1

Reports To: Chief Accountant
Duty Station: Head Office, Songea
Job Description
The Assistant Accounts Officer will support the Finance function through financial reporting, maintenance of accounting records, budget preparation, financial controls and routine financial transactions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing petty cash vouchers and arranging the withdrawal of funds from the bank.
- Receiving and processing daily bank communications and cash and bank transactions.
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and reconciling it monthly with the general ledger.
- Conducting periodic physical verification of assets and carrying out asset valuations when required.
- Reconciling accounts payable and receivable, including weekly reconciliation and maintaining the inventory sub-ledger.
- Assisting the Chief Accountant in preparing final accounts.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Participating in budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
- Ensuring proper  management of imprest and compliance with retirement procedures.
- Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accountancy, Finance or an equivalent qualification from a recognised higher learning institution.
- Have evidence of ongoing NBAA Professional Examination Scheme, which will be an added advantage.
- Have proficiency in computer accounting packages.
- Have at least two years of relevant work experience.
2. Internal Audit Officer

Reports To: Chief Internal Auditor
Duty Station: Head Office, Songea
Job Description
The Internal Audit Officer will provide audit services, review financial controls, support regulatory compliance and contribute to risk management activities within the Union.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The position involves:
- Reviewing and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommending improvements.
- Designing, implementing and monitoring internal financial control systems.
- Conducting internal audits to assess efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with established procedures.
- Reviewing accounting records and preparing accurate and timely audit reports.
- Discussing audit findings and recommendations with relevant units and reporting significant issues to  Management and the Board.
- Assessing compliance with organisational policies, procedures and relevant regulations.
- Following up on the implementation of management decisions concerning audit recommendations.
- Conducting special audits where financial or operational malpractice is suspected.
- Preparing and submitting management, Board and regulatory audit reports on time.
- Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Auditing, Accountancy, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration majoring in Accountancy or Finance, or an equivalent qualification.
- CPA (T), ACCA, ACA, CIA or another equivalent professional qualification recognised by NBAA, together with relevant professional registration.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- At least three years of experience in a similar position in a reputable commercial organisation.
3. Procurement Officer

Reports To: Procurement & Store Officer
Duty Station: Head Office, Songea
Job Description
The Procurement Officer will assist with procurement processes, stores management and compliance with the applicable Public Procurement Act and related guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Initiate material requisitions and maintain stores ledgers and records.
- Coordinate stock taking.
- Negotiate supplier agreements and vendor contracts.
- Assist in maintaining an up-to-date inventory of Union vehicles, machines, furniture and office equipment.
- Participate in preparing the Annual Procurement Plan.
- Prepare purchase orders according to approved tenders and quotations.
- Ensure creditors’ payments comply with approved payment terms.
- Prepare procurement requisitions and tender documents.
- Maintain procurement records and supplier databases.
- Assist in evaluating bids and issuing purchase orders.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline from a recognised university or institution.
- Be computer literate.
- Be registered by PSPTB.
- Have at least two years of relevant work experience.
4. Driver

Salary Scale: SONAMCUSS-B1
Reports To: General  Manager
Duty Station: Head Office, Songea
Job Description
Drivers will be responsible for the safe operation and proper maintenance of Union vehicles, ensuring reliable transportation of staff, goods and documents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Driver will:
- Drive and maintain the Union’s motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Maintain custody of the vehicle service schedule and ensure regular servicing, maintenance and cleaning.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, identify defects and carry out minor maintenance where appropriate.
- Report mechanical problems and other detected faults promptly.
- Verify that vehicle repairs and maintenance work have been properly completed.
- Maintain an accurate vehicle logbook and fuel usage records.
- Ensure the safety and security of the vehicle and its contents.
- Provide timely and safe transportation of staff, goods and documents as required.
- Immediately report vehicle faults, accidents or other incidents to the supervisor.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Hold a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE).
- Possess a valid Class E and C driving licence.
- Have basic knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, which is an added advantage.
- Have at least three years of relevant work experience in a reputable institution or co-operative society.
- Be able to communicate in both English and Kiswahili.
