Swiss Government Scholarship for Foreign Scholars for the 2027/2028, The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology hereby informs interested Tanzanians of the opportunity to apply for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for Foreign Scholars for the 2027 – 2028 Academic Year.

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed master’s degree or PhD. The application for program is done online through the link- www.sbfi.admin.ch/scholarships.eng.

Target group: Highly qualified researchers who have completed a master’s degree in any academic field. Priority will be given to individuals who have not previously studied or conducted research in Switzerland.

2. SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Applicants must fulfil all of the following requirements:

i. Be born after 31 Decemba 1991.

ii. Master’s degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027.

iii. Detailed research plan with a timeline specifying key milestones and activities.

iv. Applicants must have a letter of support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland (including a short CV).

v. If the applicant already resides in Switzerland: date of entry must not be earlier than 1 August 2026 (submit a copy of the registration confirmation or residence permit).

i. Academic profile, research competence, and motivation

ii. Originality and methodological quality of the project

iii. Quality of supervision and potential for future collaboration

4.0 Duration

i. 12 months, renewable twice for up to 36 months (subject to academic progress during the first 12 months).

ii. Start date: 1 September 2027.

5.0 Scholarship amount

i. CHF 2,450 per month to cover basic living expenses for one person

ii. This scholarship is not a salary and must therefore not be treated as equivalent to regular remuneration, either financially or legally.
