Identify strategic anchor partners, off-takers, processors, cooperatives, and ecosystem players capable of driving farmer aggregation and bankable agricultural portfolios.
1: Relationship Officer – Business
Description
Basic Purpose:
Support the branch business growth agenda by driving acquisition, onboarding, and retention of micro and consumer business customers. The role focuses on delivering quality lending, growing CASA and transactional accounts, cross‑selling bank products, growing NFIs, and maintaining strong client relationships.
The Relationship Officer will execute field‑level sales activities, ensure quality credit applications, and provide excellent customer service in line with KPIs, while escalating complex matters to the Relationship Manager – Business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect, and onboard micro and consumer business customers, grow CASA deposits, ensure active account usage, and support customer activation to reach at least 8 products per customer.
- Recruit Equity Agents, Super Agents, and Merchants, promote ABC platform onboarding, and drive transaction growth to reduce branch traffic and increase NFIs
- Cross‑sell bank products (loans, insurance, cards, mobile banking, payments, trade finance basics, etc.) and engage segmented clients to build confidence, loyalty, and overall customer value.
- Prepare timely reports and feedback, coordinate with the Commercial Department and Head Office stakeholders, and support branch business growth activities.
- Collect market intelligence on micro and retail businesses, competitor offerings, and customer needs to support decision‑making and branch business goals.
- Source quality loan applications, conduct customer visits, perform business assessments, validate KYC, and ensure credit proposals meet approved standards.
- Monitor assigned loan portfolio, flag early warning signals to the RM, and follow up on repayments to maintain a healthy loan book and reduce PAR (PAR30 & PAR90).
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, resolve customer inquiries, escalate complex issues to the RM, and reduce dormant accounts through regular engagement.
- Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and all bank policies, and maintain accurate and complete customer files, documents, and reports.
- Collaborate with branch teams on cross‑functional business activities and execute any duties assigned by the Relationship Manager or Branch Management.

2: Relationship Manager – BusinessÂ
 Basic Purpose: Provide supervisory role to the staff members working under branch business development unit whereas Relationship Manager –Business Development shall be responsible for coordinating activities of the unit by leading the team on sales and business development that ensure growth of customer base, CASA and Term deposits, high quality loan NPL, improvement of loan portfolio both PAR 30% and PAR 90%, growth of NFIs, cross selling of bank products and maintain good relationship with clients in line with KPIs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify and negotiate business opportunities that will grow business of the branch in line with annual business targets and Bank strategy
• Develop and implement an annual business plan and sales strategy that will contribute to the overall business plan of the branch as well as Bank strategy.
• Ensure growth of CASA deposit and contribute by 70% of the total branch deposits.
• Ensure growth of a quality loan portfolio across all customer segment and business sectors and generate profit in line with business targets. • Ensure growth of customer base and actively operate their bank accounts
• Ensure recruitment of Equity Agents and Super agents in line to the Branch targets and growth of number of transactions
• Recruit Merchants, monitor performances of all POS in the area to ensure attainment of unit targets in line with branch objectives and goals.
• Ensure customers are on boarded on the ABC platforms and growth of number of transaction increases to reduce traffic at the branch and grow NFIs
• Ensure growth on NFIs by cross selling trade finance products, increase transactional banking services, insurance and other products and services that will generate NFIs
• Cross selling Bank products and ensure product usage per customer is enhanced to at least 8 products per customer
• Ensure number of dormant accounts is substantially reduced to very minimal at least 15% of the total branch customers • Manage and enhance existing business relationships within the portfolio to ensure the retention of customers in line with business needs.
• Review own and other loan portfolios and recommend appropriate interventions to ensure it performs in line with approved performance indicators and targets.
• Liaise with all stakeholders for example, clients, government institutions and other financial institutions to ensure that the Banks interests are properly represented and safeguarded.
• Supervise, provide appropriate guidance and mentor Relationship Officers to ensure on boarding of good and quality business and adherence to all Bank policy and procedures including compliance to KYC and Money Laundering Policies
• Going out to meet and interact with current segmented clients of Equity Bank as an awareness drive to build confidence in the new ventures with the aim of maintaining them and winning their loyalty
• Provide timely reports, recommendations and feedback to immediate supervisors and top management on developments and progress of the business
• Liaise and coordinate activities with the Commercial Department and other stakeholders at Head Office
• Advise the BGDM on all branch matters concerning growth of branch business and people management.
• Participate in the preparation of the branch budget and Annual Plan

• Collect and prepare market intelligence information, on corporate and retail products and services to ensure business growth of the segment in line with branch goal
 Knowledge Skills And Experience: Skills:
• Demonstrated understanding of the Bank’s major product offerings to clients especially syndication, co financing, club deals, correspondent banking products including letters of credit, factoring, forfaiting, structured trade finance, carbon financing, corporate finance risk participations, project-related financing and considerable knowledge of how this work.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience of the structured trade finance operating model as a basis for the mitigation of identified risks in potential business transactions and especially in the areas of credit risk management and monitoring.
• Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change oriented setting and therefore knowledge of the workings of the main segments of the trade finance markets and the participants in major regions of Africa.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of the Bank’s other working languages is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in marketing trade and project finance products will be a distinct advantage.

Work Experience:

3: RM Agribusiness Cash Crops Specialist
The RM Agribusiness Cash Crops Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, and growing Equity Bank Tanzania’s agribusiness portfolio within selected cash crop value chains.
The role witl provide specialized relationship management and technical support to farmers, farmer organizations. cooperatives, aggregators, processors, off-takers, input Suppliers, and other value chain actors, with a particular focus on commercially viable cash crops.
The role holder will identify and develop high-quality agricultural financing opportunities, build sustainable agribusiness pipelines, support customer acquisition and retention, and facilitate access to appropriate banking and nan-financial solutions.
The position will work closely with agricultural stakeholders to strengthen value chain linkages, improve productivity and market access, and grow loans, deposits, transaction banking, and other financial products while maintaining strong portfolio quality.
The RM will also serve as a technical resource on assigned cash crop value chains, providing insights on production cycles, market dynamics, crop economics, risks, financing requirements, and opportunities tor sustainable and climate-smart agricultural development.
5.0 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 – 7 years of relevant experience in cash crops financing, agribusiness, agricultural finance, commercial banking, value chain development, relationship management, Or a related field. Strong understanding of agronomic principles and commercial agricultural production.
Demonstrated expertise in agribusiness management, agricultural markets, value chain development, and financial services. Demonstrated ability to support farmers and Ag-MSMEs to develop bankable business models and access appropriate financial services.
