Royal hospital was established in 1973, it is one of the first ever private hospitals in Enugu state and has a rich history of care to many residents of the Eastern Nigeria and beyond.
It is situated in the prestigious G.R.A at the heart of Enugu on a hill overlooking the state secretariat, close to the Banking and business zones of Enugu city.
Founder
Royal Hospital was founded by the Late Dr. David Chienye Okonkwo MB BS (DURHAM)FRCP,FWACP a consultant Physician who received his education at the University of Newcastle upon tyne. Royal hospital was established as a subsidiary to Ajugo Medical Services Ltd.
The Practice started as a small 20 bed clinic with about 4 doctors but grew to a 52 Bedded multi specialist hospital comprising of various specialties and subspecialties which caters to all cadre of patients.

Emergency Services:
There is a 24 hour Emergency service
Cases arriving after 6.00 pm to 8.00 am are treated as Emergency cases
Resident Doctors:
Four (4) Doctors Reside within the hospital premises and attend to any
Emergencies
Drugs:
The hospital procures all its drugs directly from the manufacturers through the individual drug representatives and stored according to requirements
Hospitalization
The hospital has four categories of wards to suit the pocket and status of each staff; viz General ward, semi-private ward, Special ward (low cost),Special Ward (High cost).
Surgical department:
A fully equipped modern operating theatre with sophisticated equipment capable of handling all major surgeries. Surgical procedures and fees are available on request for specific cases.
Dental department:
This consists of a well furnished dental unit to take care of all dental emergencies. We provide dental care including root canal therapy and replacement with dentures/prosthesis, Extractions etc.
Eye Clinic:
An up to date Eye clinic manned by a consultant Ophthalmologist and an Optometrist which provides comprehensive eye care service, including routine eye treatments, supply of Frames and lenses
Ante-natal Services:
The hospital has a twice weekly Ante-Natal service with Antenatal classes by experienced midwives and resource persons. This will be improved to a daily clinic as more Obstetricians join us. There are Experienced Resident Midwives to attend to any labour cases and the Obstetricians are on 24 hours call for all emergencies.
X-Ray department:
The hospital provides a comprehensive x-ray service with a radiologist report (on request).
Laboratory Department:
A fully equipped modern laboratory capable of carrying out all laboratory investigations within a few minutes and includes a hematology Auto-analyzer, Biochemistry auto-analyzer, Electrolyte auto-analyzer, Blood culture and other Microbiology investigations etc. This is overseen by a qualified Laboratory scientist, a lab technician and @ laboratory assistants.( a comprehensive list of all lab investigation are available on our website)
 Ambulance services:
There is fully functional standby ambulance for all emergency services and transfers to and from the hospital.
