The Institute of Accountancy Arusha(IAA) is a parastatal educational institution under the Ministry of Finance; originally established in 1987 to offer training for candidates aspiring to acquire National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) certification.
In 1990 the parliament of the Republicof Tanzania underAct No. 1 of 1990 established the Institute of Accountancy Arusha to offer programs independent of NBAA certification. Over time, the Institute has developed severalcertificates, bachelors, and master’s degree programmes. Currently the Institute is offering eighty-one (81) programmes: fourteen (15) masters programmes, twenty-seven (27) bachelor degree programmes, twenty (20) ordinary diploma and nineteen (19) basic technician certificate programmes.

The Institute has overtime developed a total of 79 programmes from Certificates, Diploma, Bachelor Degree and Master’s Degree.
The Institute also conducts short- term courses, seminars, and undertakes consultancy and research activities as part of its mission. Through these intervetions, IAA aspires to develop lasting partnerships with industries, the Government, and non-governmental organizations.
