Kigoma Region is among the Regions of Mainland Tanzania with fertile land, natural vegetation and attractive climate. The Region also has a rare biodiversity that attracts tourists from within and outside the country.

There are mountains, valleys, rivers and Lake Tanganyika which ranks second in the world for having the deepest water depth.

In general, the geography of Kigoma Region makes it a strategic Region for tourism investment, agriculture, industry and trade.

In addition, economic activities in the Region have continued to improve due to the Government’s efforts to improve various social services, road infrastructure, railways, electricity and air transport.

The Executive Director of Kigoma District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for six (6) job positions in this Council after obtaining approval from the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance. with the following breakdown: –

1.0 DRIVER CLASS II – 3 POSITIONS

1.1 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

i. Inspecting the vehicle before and after the trip to determine the safety status of the vehicle,

ii. Sending employees to various locations on business trips,

iii. Carrying out minor vehicle repairs,

iv. Collecting and distributing various documents,

v. Filling and maintaining all trip information in the trip log,

vi. Cleaning the vehicle and,

vii. Carrying out other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

1.1.1 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT

To be employed with a Form IV certificate and a Class E or C driving license that they have worked for not less than one (1) year without causing an accident along with training certificates that qualified them to obtain the relevant classes.

They must have attended the Basic Driving Course provided by the VETA College or another College recognized by the Government.

1.1.2 SALARY LEVEL TGS B

1.2  OFFICE EXECUTIVE scribe CLASS II – POSITION 3

1.2.1 DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

i. Typing letters, reports and routine documents.

ii. Receiving visitors and listening to their problems, and directing them where they can be assisted.

iii. Maintain records of events, appointments, visitors, dates of meetings, trips of his/her superior and the schedule of other work scheduled to be carried out in the office where he/she works, and inform his/her superior at the required time.

iv. Search for and provide his/her superior with files, documents or anything needed for work activities in the office.

v. Convey his/her superior’s information to his/her assistants and also inform him/her of any information that has been given to him/her by those assistants.

vi. Receive files and distribute them to the officers in his/her area, and collect, maintain and return them to the relevant areas.

vii. Maintain records of events, appointments, visitors and dates of meetings travel of his/her superior and the schedule of other work scheduled to be carried out in the office where he/she works and inform his/her superior at the required time.

viii. Carry out any tasks assigned to him/her by the work supervisor.

1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT

Form IV or VI graduates with a Diploma (NTA level 6) in Secretarial Studies from Government-recognized Institutions.

In addition, they must have passed the subject of Short Hand in Kiswahili and English 80 words per minute (80 w.p.m) and received training in office computer programs such as Word, Excel, Power point, Internet, E-mail and Publisher from Government-recognized Institutions.

1.2.3 SALARY LEVEL TGS C

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian Citizens aged between 18 years and not exceeding 45 years

ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and should indicate in the application form the type of Disability they have for the information of the Public Service Employment Secretariat.

iii. Applicants should attach a detailed CV with valid addresses and telephone numbers and names of reliable referees.

iv. All applications should be accompanied by copies of educational and professional certificates certified by a lawyer/advocate, which are Form Four/Six certificates for those who have reached that level and various training certificates based on the qualifications of the relevant job. Diploma/Certificate, Form IV and VI examination certificate, Computer Certificate, Professional Certificates.

v. Applicants for Driver II cadre with Class E or C licenses should ATTACH Driver training certificates that qualified them to obtain the relevant classes.

vi. Testimonials, “Provision Results”, “Statements of Results”, Form Four and Six result certificates WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

vii. Applicants who have studied abroad should ensure that their certificates are verified and certified by the relevant authorities (NECTA and NACTE).

viii. Applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions in the Public Service should not apply and should adhere to the instructions in Circular No. CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010.

ix. Applicants whose names differ in their documents should submit a Deed Poll registered with the Ministry of Lands.

x. Submission of false information and qualifications will be subject to legal action
