The history of the Office goes hand in hand with the history of the country. Following the decision of the Berlin Conference in the year 1885, the territory of what is now referred as Tanzania Main land, was allocated to the German. In the year 1897, German East Africa was formally established as a colony of German. The German occupied until they were defeated in the first world war in the year 1919.

Through the treaty of Versailles of 1919, the British were granted a League of Nations mandate to govern the former German East Africa – which now acquired a new name of Tanganyika. The United Kingdom held Tanganyika in the mandate of league of nation until the end of the Second World War. From the year 1946, the territory held as a United Nations Trust Territory.

In December, 1961, Tanganyika Territory gained its independence from the United Kingdom. It became a republic a year later but stayed in the British Commonwealth of nations. Tanganyika now forms part of the modern day state of the United Republic of Tanzania after the union between it and Zanzibar on 26th April, 1964.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in preparing and implementing the audit program;

Participate in preparing quarterly reports and submitting them to the work manager;

Review payment documents, receipts and bank accounts;

Conduct internal control system investigations and prepare audit reports and arguments;

Conduct surprise financial audits and prepare audit reports and arguments;

Implement the Office’s audit manual;

Collaborate with the Auditees to discuss issues affecting the progress of the audit;

Review documents on expenditure, development, trusts, agencies, funds, special projects and government revenues;

Evaluate work plans and prepare basic amendments and submit them to the work manager;

Prepare arguments, audit letters and annual reports; and

Perform other tasks related to his/her field as assigned by his/her supervisor.

Qualifications

Employment with a Bachelor of Commerce/Arts majoring in Accounting or a Bachelor of Accounting with Information Technology or a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance or a Bachelor of Public Sector Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution.

Manage the Office’s digital communication systems such as websites and social media;

Monitor and analyze various information related to the National Audit Office;

Shoot and edit still and motion graphics for internal and external communications of the institution;

Prepare images and design graphics with audit content for audit reports, stakeholder reports and exhibitions;

Participate in the Office’s digital communication campaigns;

Maintain a creative database and communication records; and

Perform other duties related to his/her field as assigned by his/her supervisor.

Qualifications

Employment with a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Technology or a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from a Government-recognized University.
