This manual has been prepared by the Teachers Service Commission, specifically for new teachers employed in the Public Service in Mainland Tanzania, with the aim of enabling teachers to gain a good understanding of the Laws, Regulations, Procedures and Guidelines governing the Public Service, especially in the Teachers’ Service. Similarly, teachers will understand the rights, responsibilities, and ethics that govern the Public Service and the profession of their cadre in order to enhance their work performance in order to have a productive Public Service and the provision of quality services to customers.
In addition, this manual will provide new teachers with basic information about their rights and responsibilities as public servants by enabling them to understand the best methods to carry out their duties effectively, as well as emphasizing the importance of recognizing themselves as responsible servants to the community.
Through this manual, teachers will gain knowledge on record keeping, the basics of providing quality services to customers, and understanding their work environment. This manual also aims to educate teachers on promotion procedures, various disciplinary procedures and measures and the importance of maintaining integrity in the implementation of daily duties.
Recognizing the contribution of quality education to national development, this manual has been prepared to stimulate the enthusiasm and commitment of new teachers so that they can fully participate in achieving national goals in the education sector. It is the Commission’s hope that this manual will be a useful resource for new teachers in understanding their roles and responsibilities, thus contributing to the provision of quality services to students and society at large.
