Vacancies at Maweni Referral Hospital March 2026, Maweni Regional Referral Hospital, Kigoma, began providing services at its current location in 1972. Before that, services were provided in Kigoma city at an area that is currently used as a center for raising children living in vulnerable environments in Sanganyigwa. This hospital was established to provide services to the citizens of Kigoma city. It is currently a Regional Referral Hospital that receives patients from all districts of Kigoma Region as well as refugees and citizens from neighboring countries of Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Maweni Hospital was upgraded to a Regional Referral Hospital by a notice issued in the Government Gazette No. 828 dated 12/11/2010. The hospital has a capacity of 300 beds in 11 existing wards. Due to dilapidation, two wards are not in use, so the number of beds in the ward is 169. Another 32 beds are used in other departments such as a labor room, beds for night shift staff and examination beds.
Services Provided
The following services are provided; outpatients (OPD), internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, dental, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, HIV/AIDS services (CTC, PMTCT, VCT, PITC, EID, HBC) and mortuary services.
Maweni Regional Referral Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for volunteer positions (Volunteer Contract) in various departments.
1. Mortuary Attendant (2 Positions)
Duties:
Receive, store, and release bodies according to hospital procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of the mortuary and its equipment.
Keep accurate records of all bodies entering and leaving.
Collaborate with nurses and doctors in the handling and care of bodies.
Qualifications:
Form Four education or higher.
Training or experience in mortuary work is an added advantage.
Disciplined, honest, and capable of working in challenging environments.
2. Records Management Officer (1 Position)
Duties:
Maintain and organize patient files and hospital documents.
Input and store data in electronic systems.
Provide files to health workers when needed.
Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Records Management or a related field.
Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
3. Driver (2 Positions)
Duties:
Drive hospital vehicles (including the ambulance).
Ensure the vehicle is maintained and in good condition at all times.
Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report any faults.
Observe all traffic safety laws.
Qualifications:
Valid driving license Class C or E.
At least 2 years of driving experience.
First Aid certificate is an advantage.
Must be trustworthy and disciplined.
4. Anesthetist (1 Position)
Duties:
Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgery.
Monitor patient condition before, during, and after surgery.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety.
Maintain anesthesia equipment and ensure it functions properly.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Medicine/Nursing with a certificate in Anesthesia.
Registered with the relevant health professional council.
Hospital work experience is an advantage.
