Full funded Samia Scholarship Extendend DS/AI 2026, The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is implementing a special program called SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DS/AI+ which aims to increase and develop the skills of Tanzanian youth in the fields of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Allied Sciences according to the needs of the job market in the country and contribute to National, Regional and International development.
The Ministry is announcing scholarship opportunities at the Master’s level for graduates with the highest achievement in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related disciplines such as Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering.
B. AREAS OF FUNDING
SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DS/AI+ will provide funding for postgraduate studies covering:
i) Tuition Fees
ii) Food and accommodation allowance
iii) Books and Stationery allowance
iv) Special Faculty Requirements
v) Research
vi) Health Insurance
C. TARGETED UNIVERSITIES
Funding will be provided to applicants who have taken admission in the Indian Institute of Technology Madrasa (IITM) Zanzibar Campus.
D. DURATION OF FUNDING
The students who will be funded will be funded for a period of two years starting from the financial year 2026/27.
E. QUALIFICATIONS OF FUNDING APPLICANTS
This funding will be provided to undergraduate students who have the following qualifications:
i) Must be a Tanzanian.
ii) Must have admission to study for a Master’s Degree in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (M.Tech. in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Zanzibar Campus.
iii) Must not be more than 35 years of age.
iv) Must have completed science subjects, especially Advanced Mathematics, in Form Six with a First Class Honours.
v) Must have a minimum GPA of 3.8 in the first degree. The applicant being a Lecturer or Lecturer at a University is an additional qualification.
F. SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS
A student who will receive SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED (DS/AI+) funding will be required to comply with the following conditions:
i) Must read, understand and sign the Scholarship Agreement between him/her and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology;
ii) Must have a bank account for the funds to be paid directly.
iii) The beneficiary will not be allowed to change the study program he/she has been granted funding without a written approval letter from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology;
iv) The beneficiary will not be allowed to postpone studies, except for health reasons, and confirmed by the relevant institution;
v) If the beneficiary cancels the funding opportunity before starting studies, he/she must submit a written notification to:

G. PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
i. Applications for Scholarships should be submitted through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology via email scholarship@moe.go.tz.
ii. The applicant is required to attach all necessary documents (NIDA, Birth Certificate, Certificates of completion of studies and CV).
In addition, the applicant should provide his/her contact including email and phone number,
H. APPLICATION DEADLINE
i. Applications for Academic Admission should be submitted before April 15, 2026 at IIT Madrasa Zanzibar Campus
ii. Applications for Academic Funding should be submitted from June 1 to June 30, 2026.
