New Vacancies at Kwimba District May 2026, Kwimba District is one of the oldest districts among the eight districts of Mwanza Region. In order to ensure that essential services including administration are brought closer to the people, in 1973 the Government divided Kwimba District and established two districts, Kwimba and Magu. Also in 1996 Kwimba District was divided into the current Misungwi and Kwimba Districts.

1.1: Location

Kwimba District is located at latitudes 2o 45’ and 3o 53’ South of the Equator and longitudes 33o and 33o 30’ East of the Prime Meridian.

To the North the District is bordered by Magu District, to the East it is bordered by Maswa District, to the South it is bordered by Kishapu and Shinyanga Rural Districts and to the West it is bordered by Misungwi District.

1.2: Area and Administrative Areas

Kwimba District has an area of ​​3,903 square kilometers, has five (5) Divisions, 30 Wards, 119 Villages, 871 Subdistricts and a Sub-Town Authority.

It also has two (2) Parliamentary and Councillor Constituencies which are Kwimba and Sumve. The District Headquarters is Ngudu which is 98 kilometers from the Mwanza Regional Headquarters.

1.3: Population.

According to the 2022 Population and Housing Census, Kwimba District had a total population of 480,025 of whom 242,071 were females and 237,054 were males.

The annual population growth rate is 1.9% and the population density is 123 per square kilometer.

The district is currently estimated to have a population of 533,025 of which 265,541 are males and 267,484 are females (National Institute of Statistics estimates as of December 2025)

1.4: Climate.

Kwimba District is largely flat, with valleys and a few hills and occasional hills.

The climate of the District is generally arid, with rainfall being scarce, unreliable or unpredictable. The average annual rainfall is 700-1200 mm. The annual temperature is 250-330C; and dry winds prevail almost all year round.

The weather seasons are divided into three main parts, namely the short rainy season (autumn) which starts from mid-October to December, the long rainy season (masika) is from mid-February to May and the long sunny season is from June to mid-October.
