Teaching Vacancies at Aga Khan Education Services April 2026, The Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) is one of the largest private, not-for-profit, non-denominational educational networks in the Global South.
AKES currently operates over 190 pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools and more than 100 non-formal education programmes in diverse geographic locations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.
Most schools offer their respective country’s national curricula, with some schools in East Africa and Bangladesh also offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

The Aga Khan Education Services in Tanzania runs three schools, offering education from nursery to secondary levels.
The roots date to 1905 when a girls’ school was founded in Zanzibar by Aga Khan III. Today, the Aga Khan Nursery and Primary School (AKNPS) offer IB-authorized Primary Years Program (PYP) from kindergarten 1 to Grade 6 (ages 3–12). The curriculum blends the IB-PYP framework with Tanzania’s national curriculum and local culture.
The school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and holistic development—intellectual, personal, and social.
Facilities include sports, art, music, and ICT. Education is seen as a three-way partnership among students, teachers, and parents, aiming to develop responsible, compassionate, and globally aware citizens.

The Aga Khan Education Services in Tanzania (AKES, T) invites applications from qualified caring, and dynamic early years teacher for the position of Nursery Teacher (KG1 – KG3).

RESPONSIBILITIES:       

Actively promote the IB learner profile and international mindedness.

Create a warm, supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes positive behaviour and inclusivity.

Promotes the values and mission of AKES, T.

Ensures school-wide policies are implemented.

Promotes and maintains a positive working environment in the school.

Maintains open communication with staff. • Uses an inquiry, play based approach to planning, teaching and assessing. • Ensures the art, music and movement curricula are delivered and integrated into projects and interest-based play, complementing all other areas of the curriculum

The requirements

Job Requirement:           

Bachelor’s degree in education

Experience working in early childhood education preferred.

Successful experience in working as part of a team.

At least 2–3 years of experience teaching in a nursery or early years environment.

Additional skills such as arts, music, sports, storytelling, ICT for early learners, or special needs experience will be considered an added advantage.
