18 Job Vacancies at Liwale District Council august 2026, The Executive Director of Liwale District Council, in collaboration with the Non-Governmental Organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders – MSF), which is involved in the provision of Maternal and Child Health Services, invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill the following contract positions for a period of six (6) months.

1. Medical Officer Grade II (MO) – One (1) Position

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all medical duties in the hospital related to various diseases, including pediatric illnesses, maternal health conditions, and routine as well as emergency surgeries.
  • Provide and supervise health education activities and improve community health within the district and assigned areas.
  • Investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
  • Maintain health statistics and ensure compliance with MTUHA (Health Management Information System) guidelines.
  • Plan and evaluate health services in the assigned area.
  • Train students and staff working within the assigned area.
  • Supervise and guide staff under their authority.
  • Train students from health training institutions.
  • Design and conduct research and disseminate findings.
  • Develop strategies for improving the quality of professional services.
  • Prepare health service plans and budget estimates.
  • Participate in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide outreach health services within the district.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with qualifications, experience, and skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Medicine from a Government-recognized institution.
  • Completion of an internship of not less than one year.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
  • A valid practicing license.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the Maternity Ward and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Salary

Salary will be paid according to Government Circular under TGHS D.

2. Assistant Nursing Officer Grade II (ANO) – Six (6) Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services.
  • Collect essential health statistics.
  • Supervise nurses under their authority.
  • Educate patients and communities on health-related matters.
  • Provide preventive and reproductive health services.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor according to qualifications, experience, and skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Diploma in Nursing from a Government-recognized institution.
  • A valid Nursing License.
  • Registration and enrollment with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to Government Circular under TGHS B.

3. Nursing Officer Grade II (NO) – Four (4) Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services in communities, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.
  • Collect essential health statistics.
  • Supervise nurses under their authority.
  • Provide home-based patient care.
  • Offer counseling services.
  • Prepare work plans for nursing services.
  • Provide preventive and reproductive health services.
  • Educate patients and communities on health issues.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor according to qualifications, experience, and skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a Government-recognized university.
  • Completion of internship training.
  • A valid practicing license.
  • Registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the Operating Theatre or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Salary

Salary will be paid according to Government Circular under TGHS C.

4. Plumber (WATSAN Agent) – Four (4) Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of clean water infrastructure and wastewater systems within hospital buildings.
  • Carry out maintenance by repairing burst pipes, replacing damaged taps, and fixing wastewater systems.
  • Ensure plumbing systems and water pumps remain in good working condition.
  • Prepare estimates for materials required for maintenance and new plumbing projects.
  • Read and interpret building drawings to plan plumbing installations.
  • Assist in the construction of water infrastructure.
  • Advise the Construction Department or Council Engineer on suitable water supply technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

A Plumbing Trade Certificate of Grade II or higher.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to Government Circular under TGHS A.

General Terms and Conditions

Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens.

Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years of age.

A copy of the Birth Certificate must be attached.

The position applied for must be clearly indicated in the subject line of the application letter.

Applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with current address, reliable phone numbers, and names and contacts of three reliable referees.

Applications must include certified copies of:

Certificate of Secondary  Education Examination (CSEE) and/or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE).

Professional training certificates.

Birth Certificate.

One recent passport-size photograph with the applicant’s name written on the back.

Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statements of Results, Form IV and Form VI Result Slips will not be accepted.

Submission of false information or forged certificates will lead to legal action.

The deadline for receiving applications is 18 August 2026 at 3:30 PM.

All certificates must be certified by a Court or Commissioner for Oaths.

Applications may be written in either Swahili or English.
