143 Volunteer Vacancies at Kilwa District Council October 2026

The opportunities are open to eligible Tanzanian citizens who meet the general requirements and specific qualifications for their preferred position.

Successful volunteers will receive TZS 250,000 per month to assist with transportation and food expenses. The volunteer period will not exceed 12 months, although it may be renewed for a maximum of two additional period

General Requirements

Applicants for the Kilwa District Council volunteer opportunities must meet the following general conditions:

  1. Be a Tanzanian citizen aged 18 to 35 years and possess a National Identification (NIDA) card.
  2. Hold a Certificate, Diploma or Degree from a college or institution recognized by the Government.
  3. Have not previously been employed by a public institution since completing their studies.
  4. Have two referees or sponsors who are public servants.
  5. Have an introduction or identification letter from the Village, Mtaa or Local Government Executive.
  6. Be willing to volunteer in the respective area.
  7. Have no previous criminal conviction.
  8. Be able to use a computer or smartphone.
  9. Understand that the volunteer period will not exceed 12 months and may be renewed for a maximum of two additional periods.
  10. Volunteers will receive TZS 250,000 per month to cover transportation and food expenses.

1. Information Officer II – 1 Position

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Public Relations/Communication from a college recognized by the Government.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Collecting and writing news.
  • Educating the community about development and socio-economic opportunities provided by the Council.
  • Taking photographs.
  • Preparing photographs for exhibitions.
  • Preparing magazines and posters.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Executive Director related to the institution.

2. Assistant Accountant – 42 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed a Diploma in Accounting, ATEC II from NBAA, Certificate in Accountancy, Certificate in Accountancy and Finance, Certificate in Business Administration majoring in Accountancy, Certificate in Commerce majoring in Accountancy, or Certificate in Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Collecting taxes and revenue at various collection points, including gates, auctions and markets.
  • Maintaining accounting records.
  • Properly maintaining revenue collection machines and devices such as POS systems.
  • Depositing collections into the Council’s accounts.
  • Preparing and submitting daily collection reports to the Revenue Accountant.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

3. Clinical Officer II – 8 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must be Form IV or Form VI graduates with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a Government-recognized college.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position involves:

  • Coordinating duties performed by Assistant Clinical Officers.
  • Diagnosing and treating common illnesses.
  • Supervising subordinate staff and performing minor surgical procedures.
  • Participating in planning and implementing Primary Health Care services.
  • Advising and encouraging citizens to contribute to health services through the Community Health Fund.
  • Maintaining records of medical equipment and service-delivery tools.
  • Keeping records and preparing implementation reports.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

4. Radiology Technologist II – 1 Position

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiology/Radiological Sciences and be registered with the relevant professional council.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include examining patients, maintaining radiology equipment, checking X-ray images for quality and diagnostic adequacy, maintaining patient images, supervising subordinate staff and providing advice on radiology and radiation matters.

The role also involves preparing diagnostic equipment, supervising sterilization, providing initial training to assigned staff and carrying out other duties related to the applicant’s education, experience and skills.

5. Pharmaceutical Technologist II – 10 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a Government-recognized college and be registered with the relevant Pharmacy Council or Board.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, preparing and ordering medicines and medical supplies.
  • Dispensing medicines and medical supplies.
  • Compounding and mixing medicines.
  • Storing medicines and medical supplies.
  • Educating the community on proper medicine use.
  • Inspecting medicines, supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics.
  • Reporting adverse effects associated with medicines.
  • Coordinating the hospital medicines or drugs committee.
  • Preparing medicine and medical supply usage reports.
  • Conducting quality examinations.
  • Inspecting medicine storage facilities.
  • Supervising subordinate staff.
  • Maintaining medicine and medical supply records.
  • Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

6. Laboratory Technologist II – 7 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Diploma in Laboratory Technology/Science from a Government-recognized college and be registered with the relevant Laboratory Council.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role involves testing laboratory samples, storing samples requiring further examination or referral, inspecting laboratories and related equipment and chemicals, maintaining laboratory records and training subordinate staff.

7. Driver II – 4 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed Form IV and possess a Class E or C driving licence, together with at least one year of driving experience without causing an accident.

Applicants must also have relevant training certificates and have completed a Basic Driving Course through VETA or another Government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting vehicles before and after journeys.
  • Transporting staff to various locations on official trips.
  • Performing minor vehicle repairs.
  • Recording journeys in the journey logbook.
  • Collecting and distributing documents.
  • Cleaning the vehicle.

8. Health Assistant – 10 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must be Form IV graduates with a Health Assistant or Environmental Health Technician training certificate from a Government-recognized college.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include cleaning work equipment, wards and surrounding areas; assisting patients with disabilities or those unable to use toilets or bathe independently; assisting patients who cannot feed themselves; collecting patients’ clothes for washing; collecting patient samples and following up on results; and preparing equipment for cleaning and dressing wounds.

9. Assistant Procurement Officer – 1 Position

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Diploma in Supply and Procurement, together with a certificate from a recognized college, and must be registered with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the equipment and supplies store.
  • Receiving new supplies and used equipment awaiting disposal.
  • Maintaining ledgers for items received and issued.
  • Issuing equipment and supplies to users.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

10. Assistant Nursing Officer II – 5 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Diploma in Nursing from a Government-recognized college and be registered with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting important health statistics.
  • Directing and assigning duties to nurses under supervision.
  • Educating patients and communities about health problems.
  • Providing preventive and reproductive health services.
  • Performing other duties related to the applicant’s education, experience and skills.

11. Nurse II – 6 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a two-year Nursing Certificate from a Government-recognized college and be enrolled with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council.

Duties and Responsibilities

Nurse II responsibilities include:

  • Providing nursing services to clients in communities, hospitals and other health facilities.
  • Supervising and coordinating health attendants and service providers.
  • Collecting statistics and preparing performance reports.
  • Providing home-based patient care.
  • Providing counselling services.
  • Providing preventive and family-planning services.
  • Providing maternal and child health services.
  • Educating patients and communities about health conditions.
  • Monitoring work equipment.
  • Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

12. Sound Technician – 1 Position

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Diploma or Degree in Sound Engineering, Audio Engineering or a related field and a certificate from a recognized college.

Candidates must also have skills in using sound equipment such as mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, DJ equipment and other audio equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The advertised duties include:

  • Operating and managing sound systems.
  • Using and maintaining microphones, audio recorders and mixers.

Applicants must be Form IV graduates with a Trade Test Grade II/CBET II certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics from VETA or another Government-recognized college.

  • Performing preventive maintenance on clutches, gearboxes, braking systems and other vehicle systems.
  • Diagnosing vehicle and machinery problems and carrying out repairs.
  • Conducting quality tests after repairs.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of workshop tools.

  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree and certificate and must have attended Law School training.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Legal Officer will:

  • Vet the Council’s contracts.
  • Handle minor court cases and appeals before the High Court involving the Council.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the employer.

15. Security Guard – 39 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must be Form IV graduates who have successfully completed training through National Service (JKT), police, military-style training (mgambo), or firefighting at a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

Security Guards will be responsible for:

  • Checking authorization documents for Council property leaving the premises.
  • Ensuring property entering the premises has valid supporting documentation.
  • Providing security for buildings, offices and property during the day and night.
  • Ensuring doors and windows are properly secured after working hours.
  • Checking authorization of visitors.
  • Responding to workplace emergencies such as fire and floods and reporting them to relevant authorities.

16. Office Assistant – 6 Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must be Form IV graduates who have completed short-term training in Office Attendant, Office Management, Messenger or Office Clerk courses from a recognized college.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleaning offices and surrounding areas.
  • Sweeping, dusting and mopping.
  • Cutting and maintaining grass and gardens.
  • Watering gardens and planting flowers or trees.
  • Cleaning toilets.
  • Arranging and storing office equipment.
  • Opening offices in the morning and closing them after working hours.
  • Preparing reports on damaged equipment.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
