OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- To oversee and handle daily non-technical exploration manual works related to geological field works, drilling activities, receiving samples from the field, and sample preparation at the Geology Core Yard while maintaining safety for self and other team members.
ROLEÂ ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Complete required site inductions and follow and implement sitewide and work-related safety requirements.
- Conduct Take 5, identify and report workplace hazards, and communicate hazards to the team and immediate supervisor.
- Participate fully in toolbox meetings and maintain a good understanding of hazards and risks associated with the task being performed.
- Check and ensure all sampling gear is available and loaded into the vehicle before departing to the field or work area.
- When working on an RC rig, prepare, label, and arrange sample bags for collection according to metre intervals.
- When working on an RC rig, ensure samples generated are of good quality and that the contractor follows best drilling practices and sampling protocols.
- When working on an RC rig, receive samples collected from the cyclone by the drilling contractor offsider and arrange them in an orderly manner for easy checking and reconciliation of drilled metres.
- Immediately report to the supervisor any violations by the drilling contractor that may lead to non-compliance or compromise drilling quality and standards.
- Coordinate with the immediate supervisor or exploration driver to ensure all samples are collected from the drill site to the Core Yard.
- When working at the Geology Core Yard, prepare and process samples according to the list provided in the sample sheet.
- Perform mass balance measurements on samples and complete sample recovery tasks before shipment to the laboratory.
- During sampling, ensure all QAQC materials are inserted as per sample sheet guidelines and sampling protocol.
- Provide support with offloading samples from the field or loading samples for shipment to the laboratory when required.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Ordinary Level Secondary Education.
- Tanzanian Citizen.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years working experience in field mapping, exploration drilling including Diamond and RC, or sampling tasks at the Core Yard.
Knowledge & Skills
- Able to read and write in both Swahili and English.
- Good understanding of departmental and sitewide HSE standards and implementation.
- Physically fit to work in any geological environment.
- Able to cooperate and work as a team.
2: Technician 1 – Condition Monitoring
OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Assist the underground equipment Reliability Engineer to deliver targets through condition monitoring activities.
- Support the reliability of mobile and fixed equipment by providing day-to-day onsite monitoring of key components for maintenance strategic decision making.
- Monitor mobile and fixed equipment onsite by providing and implementing equipment reliability strategy through condition monitoring programs.
ROLEÂ ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Set up mechanical and electrical predictive maintenance activities including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, precision alignment, ultrasound testing, dye penetrant testing inspection, magnetic particle inspection, and interpretation of oil results analysis.
- Determine the appropriate test procedures for various pieces of equipment.
- Enter equipment nameplate and bearing information into the system.
- Monitor fixed and mobile equipment used in the mining industry.
- Use condition monitoring equipment including computerized vibration data collectors, thermography cameras, sound analysers and ultrasonic thickness gauges.
- Perform component inspection using MPI, LPI and ultrasonic flaw detection.
- Assist in balancing and alignment activities.
- Monitor and collect oil and grease samples.
- Assist in preparing action notes and reports.
- Follow monitoring checklists and work orders.
- Identify problems in lubrication systems, leaks and changes in lubricant colour.
- Complete all weekly condition monitoring plans.
- Report any tool malfunction, damage or reallocation.
- Ensure all tools are calibrated.
- Keep tools clean and stored safely.
- Keep tools updated with relevant technology consequences.
- Protect and register all tools.
- Work with mechanical maintenance personnel to schedule and effect repairs.
- Work with electrical maintenance personnel to schedule and effect repairs.
- Work with maintenance planning personnel to schedule and execute planned tasks as per schedule.
- Ensure all safety requirements relevant to the job are observed.
- Report immediately any abnormal equipment condition.
- Perform post-remediation testing to ensure desired results are met.
- Exercise the authority to stop unsafe work when required.
- Demonstrate work behaviours consistent with AngloGold Ashanti values, policies and prescribed legal requirements.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Diploma or FTC in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Vibration analysis certification.
- Thermography analysis certification.
- Non-Destructive Test certification in PT, MT and UT.
- Certified Reliability Engineering courses such as MLT and NDT.
- Certified Condition Monitoring courses such as Vibration Analysis and Thermography Analysis.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years working experience in the mining industry.
- Experience in Asset Management and Systems Reliability Monitoring.
- Experience working on both fixed and mobile equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to use various monitoring equipment including computerized vibration data collectors, thermography cameras, sound analysers and ultrasonic thickness gauges.
- Computer competence in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and CMMS software.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
