The National Insurance Corporation Tanzania Ltd was first incorporated on 16th October, 1963 with the Government ownership of fifty one percent (51%) while forty-nine per cent (49%) was shared by Munich-Re, Swiss-Re and Colin Hood Insurance Brokers Limited. After the Arusha Declaration in February 1967, NIC was nationalized and became 100% owned by the Government and was the only insurance company in the country for about 30 years.

In 1996 the insurance industry was liberalized by the Insurance Act No. 18 of 1996, opening entry of private investors in the insurance sector. The legislation was later repealed by the Insurance Act No.10 of 2009, which brought in regulation of the insurance sector, through the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority. With our current increase premiums of 43% on digitization; service provision to our customer have been made more accessible, simplified and time sensitive.

1: ACTUARIAL OFFICER II Number of Posts: 2

Duties and Responsibilities

To analyze actuarial data by mathematics modelling to determine probability and assess risks;

To participate in the review of the investment performance;

To identify, monitor and manage of risks as well as performing experience analysis of NIC;

To participate in implementing recommendations from actuarial reports; and

To carry out any related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Sciences or equivalent qualifications from any recognized institution

2: INSURANCE OFFICER II (CLAIMS) Number of Posts: 2

Duties and Responsibilities

To assist in addressing and resolving elevated customer complaints regarding claims and case management related issues to enhance customer experience;

To assist in maintaining computerized claims/loss recording systems to allow for proper risk analysis to be undertaken;

To assist in scrutinizing claims and make necessary recommendations for payment;

To assist in preparing endorsements and renewal documents and carry our routine correspondences;

To assist in checking premium rates applicable to endorsements other than renewals and see if they are correctly applied;

To assist in ascertaining prices of spare parts of vehicles and their accessories with authorized dealers; and

To perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following areas; Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management or equivalent qualifications from recognized Institution.

3: INSURANCE OFFICER II (UNDERWRITING) Number of Posts: 3

Duties and Responsibilities

To assist in the product development initiatives and maintain ownership of products developed;

To assist in developing mutual understanding of overall product strategy to drive effective execution of business model in liaison with marketing and research department;

To check premium rates applicable to endorsements other renewals and see if correctly applied;

To draft appropriate endorsements as need arises;

To assist in preparing endorsements and renewal documents and carry out routine correspondences;

To draft appropriate endorsements where need arises; and

To perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following areas; Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management or equivalent qualifications from recognized Institution.

4: STATISTICIAN II Number of Posts: 1

Duties and Responsibilities

To periodically identify and collect data needed by NIC, for managerial Decision making;

To analyse trends in customer flow and suggest user satisfaction methods;

To prepare business statistical reports/performance reports on a monthly basis;

To prepare statistical bulletin; and

To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics or equivalent qualifications from recognized Institution. Must be computer literate.

 5: TECHNICIANS II (GRAPHIC DESIGNER) Number of Posts: 2

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure all hardware and software used in marketing and communications are installed, maintained, and functioning optimally;Quickly troubleshoot and resolve any ICT-related issues that may disrupt content creation or delivery;

Support reliable network connectivity and secure access to digital media resources;

Design engaging and brand-consistent materials such as brochures, social media graphics, event posters, and corporate reports;

Collaborate with the marketing team to translate strategic messages into clear, attractive visual content that resonates with our diverse audience;
Produce, film, and edit professional-quality videos and audio content for marketing campaigns, customer education, training, and corporate events;

Provide audiovisual support for internal and external events, including live streaming and event coverage;

Capture memorable moments that showcase NIC’s impact and culture;

Organize and maintain a secure digital library of all graphics, photos, videos, and audio files;

Ensure all media assets are easily accessible and properly backed up;

Work closely with the Marketing and Communication Unit to support ongoing campaigns and projects;

Engage external vendors and service providers as needed to enhance the quality of our communication materials;

Provide training and technical support to colleagues to improve their use of ICT and audio-visual tools;

Regularly service and maintain ICT and audio-visual equipment to ensure reliability and longevity; and

Advise on and assist with the procurement of new tools and software that boost productivity and quality.

Qualifications

Holder of a Diploma or FTC in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Web and Multimedia Administration, Computer Applications or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.

Professional certifications in ICT (e.g Adobe photoshop, Figma) and multimedia software (Adobe Creative Suite) are a plus. At least 2–3 years of experience combining technical support with graphic and audio-visual production.

Experience working in the insurance services industry is highly valued. A strong portfolio showcasing your multimedia skills.
