Ubungo Municipal Council is one of the five Municipal Councils in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The vision of the Council is to have a society that is empowered to adapt to social, economic and infrastructural development.
The overall objectives are to provide quality services to the community by using existing resources efficiently, and building capacity, good governance and respecting the rule of law that will improve the lives of the community, the Council distinguishes itself through accountability and service delivery to the people.
The Council’s sources of income depend heavily on various taxes and levies, major sources of income include billboard taxes, city service taxes, business licenses and on the part of the central government is through grants provided in specific areas such as Health, Education, and Infrastructure.
The sources of income are not sufficient to meet the Municipality’s needs to provide good and quality services, the Municipal Council has focused on providing quality services to the public and seeking investment opportunities.
Job Vacancies at Ubungo Municipal Council January 2026
The Executive Director of Ubungo Municipal Council invites suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens to apply for four (4) contractual job vacancies within Ubungo Municipality for the purpose of strengthening road construction and maintenance activities. The vacancies are for operators of the following machines: Grader, Excavator, and Roller.
1.0 DRIVER OF HEAVY MACHINERY GRADE II – FOUR (4) POSITIONS
1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To operate heavy machinery efficiently and professionally.
ii. To ensure cleanliness of the assigned machine.
iii. To carry out minor routine maintenance of the machine.
iv. To inspect the machine before and after operation.
v. To perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
1.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS
i. Must have completed at least Standard Seven education.
ii. Must possess a valid Grade G driving license for operating heavy machinery.
iii. Must have proven ability to operate the relevant machinery and knowledge of its mechanical components.
iv. Must have at least three (3) years or 300 hours of continuous machine operation experience without causing accidents.
v. Must have successfully completed a Basic Driving Course from VETA or any other government-recognized institution.
1.3 SALARY SCALE
Salary will be paid in accordance with Government Salary Scale TGOS “A” per month.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years.
ii. Applicants must attach a certified copy of their birth certificate.
iii. Applicants must submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) including current contact address, phone number, and names of referees.
iv. Applicants must attach certified copies of academic and professional certificates; provisional results are not accepted.
v. Applicants applying as machine operators with Grade G licenses must attach certificates related to machine operation qualifications.
vi. All applicants must attach two recent passport-size photographs.
vii. Applicants who are current public servants must submit applications through their respective employers, accompanied by an official introduction letter.
viii. Applicants whose names differ across certificates, birth certificate, and NIDA records must attach a Deed Poll.
ix. Only applicants who meet the requirements will be shortlisted and contacted for further recruitment stages.
x. Applicants must clearly indicate the type of machine they are competent to operate, as specified in this announcement.
xi. The deadline for submitting applications is 10 February, 2026.
