Position: Talent Lead
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Position Overview
As Jaza scales rapidly across multiple countries, we need a forward-thinking leader to architect the systems that will attract, retain, and grow our people. This is not a traditional recruitment role; it is about building a workforce engine that is adaptable, data-driven, and deeply embedded in our business strategy.
You will define the talent architecture required for scale, ensuring we have the right roles and the right people at the right time and that our talent strategies support both our business objectives and drive the Jaza culture across our entire team. While you will partner with the Jaza Academy for training delivery, you own the competency frameworks, career paths, and the long-term succession plans that ensure Jaza remains a high-performance organization across all African markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Talent Management & Workforce Planning
Collaborate with the C-Suite and Country Leadership to create workforce plans and map organizational needs and set recruitment targets across the organization which will enable us to meet our business goals.
Responsible for succession planning, workforce planning, and future proofing the organization to anticipate talent needs and build a bench for critical leadership roles.
Identify organizational competency gaps and partner with the Jaza Academy to design modular, digital, and scalable development pathways.
Lead company wide talent reviews to identify high-potential employees, drive internal promotions, and proactively manage the organization’s human capital health.
Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, & Systems Optimization
Oversee recruitment across the organization ensuring that we are hiring qualified talent who are aligned with the Jaza Culture.
Design standardized, high-quality hiring frameworks that allow country operations to scale rapidly without losing quality.
Drive innovative recruitment strategies to shorten the time to hire, increase the quality of hires, and/or build a strong pipeline of talent for the future of the organization.
Lead Preboarding, Onboarding, and probation management systems across the organization, which set our new joiners up for success, orient them to their role and to the Jaza culture, and ensure they feel welcome and supported from day 1.
Oversee the implementation of modern talent tools (ATS, HRIS, and analytics platforms) to increase efficiency and provide data-informed insights.
Partner with local country teams to localize talent systems without losing group-level consistency.
Culture, & Employer Branding
Act as the guardian of Jaza’s culture ensuring our mission and values are institutionalized across diverse geographical markets through recruiting and promoting people that contribute to the culture, and onboarding new team members effectively to our culture.
Build and execute a high-impact employer branding strategy that leverages our unique mission and culture to attract elite talent at scale.
Leadership
Act as the technical expert for the Talent Specialists ensuring a consistent standard across the organization
Train and upskill Talent Specialists organization wide on recruitment best practices, tools and ensure that all Talent Specialists are enabled to meet the Jaza standards
Train and upskill managers and leadership in recruitment and onboarding best practices as well as new tools.

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in talent management, org development, or strategic people roles in growth-stage or distributed companies
Strong experience working across African markets, with insights into local hiring and cultural dynamics
Expertise in modern talent tools (ATS, HRIS, analytics platforms)
Ability to balance structure with agility and people-centricity with business goals
Strategic mindset with a bias for action – you don’t need to be told; you build what’s needed.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skill with the ability to influence and drive outcomes regardless of formal reporting lines
Proven experience coaching, mentoring and training in order to drive performance standards and upskill the team
Bachelors Degree in HR, Org Development or a related field required. Advance degree, HR, or training certification preferred.
