1: Electrical Installation Trainer

Don Bosco Technical Training College (DBTTC), in strategic collaboration with leading electrical industry partners, is implementing a two-year employer-led Dual Apprenticeship Programme for the electrical trade. The primary objective of Don Bosco is to provide technical, moral, and total human value formation education to young men and women, equipping them to become productive and honourable citizens.

The Electrical Installation Trainer plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled electricians. This role bridges classroom theory with practical workshop execution. As an Electrical Installation Teacher, you will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of electricians while advancing the future of the industry.

Key responsibilities & operational duties

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Conduct electrical training across both classroom and workshop settings, utilizing real-world scenarios, simulations, visual aids, and instructional technology to build practical skills.
Design comprehensive learning assignments spanning the two-year electrical curriculum and collaborate with trade experts to update and align training with evolving industry standards.
Ensure long and short Electrical Installation courses adhere to approved curricula recognized by regulatory authorities (such as NACTVET and VETA).
Strictly follow teaching timetables prepared by the Training Coordinator (TC) and ensure all scheduled assignments and practical sessions take place as planned.
Prepare, conduct, and grade Continuous Assessments (CA), formative evaluations, and final semester examinations, ensuring examination documents receive prior approval.
Submit Continuous Assessment marks to the Training Coordinator prior to semester examinations and compile detailed individual assessment reports for each apprentice every semester.
Supervise apprentices’ practical projects, provide constructive feedback, coordinate with company mentors to keep apprentice logbooks updated, and liaise with partner companies as required.
Collaborate with the Training Coordinator and NACTVET/VETA to maintain professional assessment standards and participate actively in monthly Departmental Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) meetings.
Act as primary custodian for training materials and equipment required during practical sessions by raising timely material requisitions.
Maintain equipment and workshop facilities, keeping up-to-date stock and inventory records in collaboration with the Finance Office.
Promote workshop discipline, enforce strict safety protocols, verify personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain order and waste separation practices.
Support budget preparation and resource management for school and workshop operations to ensure necessary training tools are consistently available.
Mentor apprentices by offering professional advice, career guidance, discipline, and moral/value formation throughout the programme.
Participate in institutional events, support final exam logistics across classroom and workshop settings, and carry out additional duties assigned by the Lead Trainer, Head of Department, or College Principal.
Stay updated on technical and pedagogical developments in the electrical trade through regular consultations with trade experts.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

Minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years proven, hands-on industry experience in the electrical trade, including expertise in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse electrical systems and technologies across industrial, commercial, or residential settings.
A recognized certificate in Technical Education teaching methodology or prior experience in a dual training TVET setting is a distinct advantage. (Pedagogy training will be provided for successful candidates).
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, along with proficiency in using instructional technology and teaching aids.
Self-motivated team player with strong initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work under minimal supervision, manage strict deadlines, and mentor individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.

As a Plumbing Teacher, you will play a critical role in developing skilled artisans for the plumbing sector, guiding apprentices through both classroom learning and workplace application while contributing to the advancement of the plumbing profession and the future of the industry.

Key responsibilities & duties

Conduct high-quality plumbing training across both classroom and workshop settings using real-world scenarios, simulations, visual aids, and modern educational technology.
Design comprehensive learning assignments spanning the full two-year plumbing curriculum.
Ensure that all long and short courses in Plumbing comply strictly with approved NACTVET curriculum standards.
Enforce and follow the teaching section schedule as prepared by the College Training Coordinator (TC).
Collaborate continuously with industry experts to update and align training content with current industry practices.
Liaise with partner plumbing companies and coordinate directly with company mentors to maintain updated apprentice logbooks.
Supervise apprentices’ practical work and industry projects, providing constructive feedback to foster practical skill acquisition.
Prepare, administer, and grade formative assessments, Continuous Assessment (CA), and final examinations covering classroom and workshop components.
Ensure all examination documents receive required pre-approval prior to administration.
