1: National Post: Programme Specialist Population Dynamics & Policy, Dodoma, Tanzania, NOC
The PositionÂ
Under overall supervision of the UNFPA Representative and direct supervision of the Deputy Representative, the Programme Specialist, Population Dynamics and Policy is part of the UNFPA country office senior staff and plays a leadership role in coordinating and managing population dynamics and demographic intelligence related interventions in the UNFPA supported program.
The position serves as a strategic bridge between data, policy, and programming, ensuring that population dynamics and foresight are effectively translated into actionable and evidence-based development outcomes in mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
It positions UNFPA as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Government in addressing demographic change as a driver of inclusive and sustainable development
Qualifications and ExperienceÂ
Education:
Advanced degree in Population Studies; Demography, Economics; Public Policy, Statistics; Development Studies or other related social science fields.
Knowledge and Experience:Â
- At least five years of experience working in the areas of population dynamics demographic analysis, policy development, and data systems;
- Proficiency in data interpretation, research methodology/design and policy analysis;
- Strong track record of technical leadership and proven ability to produce demonstrable results;
- Demonstrable ability to network with academic and research organizations, think tanks and ability to engage in high-level political dialogue;
- Good understanding of human right-based approach and results-based management of development programmes/projects and M&E;
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with governments, civil society organizations, the private sector, and in mobilizing resources and partnerships;
- Excellent drafting, communication and interpersonal skills
- Field experience and prior experience with the UN system would be assets
Languages:Â
Fluency in English is required; Kiswahili knowledge of other official UN languages, is desirable.
2: National Post: Programme Analyst, Digitilization, Innovation & Knowledge Management, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, NOA
The Position:
The Programme Analyst, Digitalisation and Innovation is a member of the UNPFA Tanzania Country Office and in particular the Programme team.
S/he provides professional support for the effective integration of digital solutions, data innovation, and emerging technologies across UNFPA Tanzania’s country Programme.
S/he will assist in identifying, developing, and scaling innovative approaches to accelerate the achievement of the three Transformative Results (ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices) and the ICPD Programme of Action in the national context.
She/He will also lead the knowledge management activities in the Country Office, expanding and maintaining a knowledge base of good practices, innovative solutions and evaluative evidence to promote investments aimed at achieving UNFPA’s transformative results.
S/he will work under the overall guidance of the Representative and will report directly to the Deputy Representative, with indirect reporting to the International Operations Manager on the ICT functions.
Qualifications and Experience:Â
Education:Â Â
Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in one or more of the following fields: Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Innovation Management, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Health, Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field.
Knowledge and Experience:Â
- 0-2 years of demonstrable responsibility/knowledge/experience in the fields of digital transformation, innovation management, or programme management in the public sector, non-governmental organization, or development sector is desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or practical experience in the design, testing, and deployment of digital solutions or emerging technologies for social impact, preferably in the context of sexual and reproductive health, gender, or population issues.
- Experience applying innovative methodologies such as human-centered design (HCD) or agile project management is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with the political, social, and economic context of the United Republic of Tanzania and the national development priorities.
- Strong research, analytical, and excellent report writing skills.
- Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods, particularly with programme policies and procedures (e.g., monitoring and evaluation frameworks) is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team
Languages:Â
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Working knowledge of Kiswahili and/ another UN Official Language is an asset.
3: National Post: Programme Specialist, Gender & Youth Empowerment, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, NOC
Qualifications and Experience:Â
Education:Â Â
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Public Health, Development Studies, Public policy, Sociology, Development Management, or related disciplines or advanced Degree in Law and Human Rights.
Knowledge and Experience:Â
- At least five years’ experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, SRHR programmes, and/or economic empowerment programming for women, adolescent girls and young people;
- Demonstrable technical expertise in adolescents and youth development, civic engagement, gender equality and gender-based violence.
- Experience working in collaboration with government, development partners, civil society organizations and private sector.
- Strong understanding of reproductive rights and gender equality dimensions in policy and programme formulation, implementation and monitoring;
- Strong technical knowledge in the science and application of social and behavioral change in the area of health services, family planning, youth and gender issues
- Proven track record in advocacy and multi-stakeholder engagement on gender and women’s rights at national or regional level.
- Demonstrated experience in working on adolescent and youth, human rights, and/or gender equality and women’s empowerment programmes will be a strong advantage.

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Fluency in oral and written Kiswahili and/ other official UN language is desired.
