Russian State Scholarship Programme for the 2027/2028 academic year, The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology wishes to inform the general public that the Russian State Scholarship Programme for the 2027/2028 academic year is now open.
Eligible Tanzanians are invited to apply for opportunities to pursue Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in Russian universities across all fields of study.
2.0 Application Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
i. Hold a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with a minimum of Division II;
ii. Hold a Diploma with a GPA of not less than 3.5 in a related field;
iii. Hold a Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Science degree with a GPA of not less than 3.5 (for Master’s applicants);
iv. Hold a Master’s degree (for PhD applicants);
v. Applicants are strongly advised to attend Russian language courses at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture for at least six months during the application process; and
vi. Undergraduate applicants must be below 25 years of age.
3.0 Scholarship Coverage
This is a partial scholarship covering tuition fees only. Candidates will be responsible for accommodation, monthly stipends, travel expenses, healthcare or insurance, stationery, and visa costs.
NB: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania does not provide loans or grants to supplement this scholarship.
4.0 Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
i. Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts;
ii. Scanned copies of the passport biodata page and documents showing current residence status;
iii. A copy of the Birth Certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
iv. An affidavit if names differ across documents;
v. Completed application form with a 3×4 cm photo attached; and
vi. Eight (8) coloured passport-size photos (4×6 cm).
NB:
a) All documents must be translated into Russian.
b) Certified copies and translations must be legalized and certified at the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy.
5.0 Application Process and Submission
i. Applicants must register at https://education-in-russia.com and complete the online application form. For details on programmes offered by Russian universities, visit https://studyinrussia.ru/en/.
ii. Applications must be submitted online by clicking the green button after completion.
The application window opens on 15th November 2026 and closes on 15th January 2027 at 23:59 hrs. (EAT).
Incomplete applications or those submitted through other channels will not be considered.
