Scholarship Opportunities at Waseda University Japan 2026/2027, The general public is hereby informed of scholarship opportunities for eligible Tanzanians at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, offered by the University, the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), private foundations and other organizations.
Interested candidates and eligible students already enrolled at Waseda are encouraged to review the relevant requirements and apply during the applicable selection period.

2.0. Fields of Study
Scholarship eligibility depends on the selected undergraduate or graduate programme and the funding scheme. Applicants should select a programme offered by Waseda and confirm that the scholarship supports their field and level of study.
3.0. Eligibility criteria
i. Meet the academic, admission and financial requirements of the selected programme and scholarship.
ii. Meet the language requirements. Many external scholarships require Japanese proficiency.
Observe restrictions on other funding; exchange and non-degree students are generally ineligible under Waseda’s central guidance.
4.0. Scholarship coverage
Support varies by award. Examples include a 50% annual tuition reduction under Waseda’s Partial Tuition-Waiver Scholarship;
JPY 400,000 annually under the Azusa Ono Memorial Scholarship for eligible master’s students at Waseda Business School; and JPY 500,000 annually for one or two years under that school’s Reserved Scholarship for selected international applicants residing overseas.
Other schools’ conditions must be checked separately.
JASSO’s Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students provides JPY 48,000 monthly at undergraduate and graduate level, normally for six or twelve months.
Private-foundation and other external awards have their own benefits. These awards are competitive; applicants must plan for expenses not covered by the scholarship.
5.0. List of documents to be submitted
Applicants must submit the documents specified by the relevant Waseda faculty, graduate school or funding organization.
Requirements differ by admission and scholarship route and may include:
i. Completed admission and/or scholarship application forms;
ii. Academic certificates and transcripts;
iii. Passport and, where required, residence card or proof of student status;
iv. Evidence of financial circumstances and other scholarships received;
v. Proof of language proficiency, where required; and
vi. A curriculum vitae, recommendation letters, study plan or other supporting documents requested by the programme or sponsor.
6.0. Application process and submission
i. Prospective students should follow the admission guidelines of their chosen programme and check whether scholarship consideration takes place before or after enrolment.
ii. For internal awards and external scholarships requiring university recommendation, follow the faculty or graduate school’s registration and selection instructions. Some schools require advance registration through MyWaseda.
JASSO applications are handled through the university.
iii. For open-recruitment external scholarships, apply to the foundation as directed in Waseda’s current list.
iv. Deadlines vary by scholarship and school. Confirm the current application window before submitting; there is no common closing date for all awards.
