Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Control & Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and continuously improving plant control, automation and instrumentation systems to ensure high levels of equipment reliability, availability, safety and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned preventive and predictive maintenance on control, automation, instrumentation and process equipment to ensure optimal equipment availability and reliability.
Provide technical breakdown support and fault-finding, including root cause analysis and resolution of complex automation, instrumentation and control-system failures.
Ensure maximum reliability of process control instruments and automation systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance and timely corrective interventions.
Identify and eliminate chronic equipment failures by analysing recurring faults and implementing sustainable corrective and improvement solutions.
Support the installation, commissioning and modification of automation and control systems for new installations, plant projects and equipment improvement initiatives.
Drive and support equipment and technology upgrades, ensuring plant automation systems remain aligned with current technology, operational requirements and reliability standards.
Continuously improve plant processes, equipment and control systems to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, safety and overall plant performance.
Conduct equipment and tooling audits and prepare technical reports, identifying risks, gaps, improvement opportunities and required interventions.
Work closely with Planners, Team Leaders, OEMs and other stakeholders to effectively plan and execute maintenance activities, technical interventions and equipment improvements.
Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, quality and maintenance standards, while supporting maintenance budget preparation, cost control and identification of CAPEX requirements.
Skills, Experience & Education
The applicants should have at least a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Automation Engineering or a related technical field.
Two years’ relevant working experience in industrial automation, instrumentation and control systems, preferably within a manufacturing or process environment.
Demonstrated experience in fault-finding, root cause analysis and breakdown resolution.
Practical knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, instrumentation, control systems and industrial electrical systems.
Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance and equipment reliability improvement.
Exposure to equipment upgrades, commissioning and plant improvement projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, OEMs and other stakeholders.
Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Willingness to provide breakdown/on-call support when required.
