Geography of the Council
Nkasi District Council is one of the four districts of Rukwa Region. The Council is located in the south-west of Tanzania between Lake Tanganyika and Lake Rukwa and is located at longitude 300 20′ – 310 30′ east and latitude 60 58′ – 80 17′ south.
Nkasi District Council is surrounded by a large area of ​​Lake Tanganyika shoreline with a distance of 186 kilometers from Kalila village in the north to Kilambo cha Mkolechi located in the south of the Council.

The district council has an area of ​​13,124 square kilometres of which 9,375 square kilometres is land and 3,749 square kilometres is water.
