20 Job Opportunities at CHAWASSA June 2026, The Executive Director of the Chato Water and Sanitation Authority (CHAWASSA) would like to invite all qualified citizens to apply for various positions on a one-year contract basis. These positions are
1.0. PLUMBING TECHNICIAN GRADE II (PLUMBING TECHNICIAN) – POSITION 08
1.1 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
To attend and report all water leaks:
To monitor reported leaks in water pipes and act appropriately.
To prepare a list of equipment required for new connections
To participate in water connections for new customers based on relevant specifications and procedures.
To attend and report water losses, supply breakdowns and recommend actions needed;
To prepare data for periodic reports to the Administrator;
To attend and report contamination/leakage of the water supply system through customer service lines;
Prepare personal performance targets, criteria and standards in consultation with the direct supervisor as part of the performance agreement; and
Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
1.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
The applicant must have a Form Four or Six (IVNI) education with a Level II diploma in plumbing from a government-recognized institution and not less than one year of experience.
1.3 SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines
2.0 SECOND-GRADE APPRENTICE (METER READER) – POSITION 05
2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i Taking meter reading;
ii. Distributing water bills;
iii Collecting water bills and customer arrears;
iv Suspending and restoring water services to Customers;
v Inspecting water meters; and
Vi To perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
The applicant must have a Form Four or Six (|VNI) education with a Level II diploma in Plumbing from a government-recognized institution and experience of not less than one year.
2.3 SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines
3.0 SECOND CLASS ASSISTANT RECORD KEEPER – POSITION 01
3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
List incoming and outgoing correspondence from the register
Distribute and receive files to executives
Return files to the racks/filling cabinets
Monitor and record the circulation of files within the institution (file tracking)
Perform other related duties as directed by Supervisor
3.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
A holder of Form Four or Six (IVVI) education who has completed a diploma (NTA level 6) in the field of record keeping from a government-recognized university and has computer skills and not less than one year of experience

4.0 SECOND GRADE SECRETARY – POSITION 01
4.1 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
A holder of Form Four or Six or a diploma who has obtained a Certificate in Secretarial Studies and passed a typing test in Kiswahili and English at a speed of 100 words per minute from a recognized institution. Must have computer skills from a recognized Government Institution and have obtained a certificate in Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, Email and Publisher. and not less than one year of experience
4.2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Writing letters, various official reports and other routine documents
Receiving and directing office visitors to the relevant officers;
Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the office;
Maintaining and maintaining records of events, appointments, responsibilities and other information necessary for the work;
Answer and receive all incoming telephone/fax/telex and transmit information to the relevant officers;
Maintain records of all files in the office and transmit them to the relevant officers for implementation and return them to the Registry;
Perform any other duties related to these duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor
4.3 SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines
5.0 GIS ASSISTANT OFFICER SECOND GRADE-POSITION 01
5.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Assist in the collection of GIS data in various systems using GPS, electronic data recording devices, digitizers and other means;
ii. Perform archiving and calculation of GIS data, including the creation of metadata;
ii. Import, update and maintain GIS databases, including backups and maintaining connectivity with other databases,
iv. Participate in the preparation of map layouts and their perspectives as well as the production of maps and information on the current and planned water network of CHAWASSA;
V. Assist in the design, development (implementation) and maintenance of CHAWASSA GIS systems;
vi. Collect information on the locations of CHAWASSA water and sewerage networks;
vi. Collect WSSA infrastructure data and convert paper maps into GIS data;
viii. Prepare map layouts and their perspectives as well as the production of maps anda information on the current and planned water network of CHAWASSA;
Processing, analyzing and presenting geographic information by developing programs to convert GIS information from one system to another; and
Performing any other tasks related to these duties as assigned by the supervisor
5.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Holding a Diploma in one of the following fields: Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other related qualifications from an institution recognized by the government and not less than one year of experience.
5.3 SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines
6.0 SECOND CLASS TECHNICIAN – POSITION O2
6.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES
Conducting daily water sampling tests to determine the type and amount of water treatment chemicals required;
i. Collect water samples from various parts of the water treatment plant for analysis and recording information;
i. Perform water and wastewater treatment processes,
iv. Perform physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis of water and wastewater;
v. Ensure that laboratory equipment is in good working order;
vi. Participate in the collection, compilation and evaluation of data on water production and distribution as well as water quality and wastewater quality;
vii. Maintain accurate laboratory test records, and
vii. Perform any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
6.2. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Holder of a Diploma/FTOC in one of the following fields: Water Laboratory Engineering or Water Laboratory Engineering Technology or other related qualifications from a government recognized institution With not less than one year of experience
6.3. SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines.
7.0 WATER TREATMENT TECHNICIAN (WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR) – Position 02
7.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operating water pumps according to agreed schedules and ensuring the correct amount of water is pumped from the water storage tank,
Monitoring the water level in water storage tanks/ponds;
Performing maintenance and repairs of water pumps, dosing pumps, water filters and water on and off valves;
Monitoring electricity availability and recording power outages;
Ensuring the required level of chlorine/chemicals is set according to the required standards, and
Performing any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
7.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Form Four/Six Education Holder (IVN) who has passed the Trade Test Grade l| NTA Level 4 and 5 in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Domestic/Industrial Electrical Installation or other related qualifications from a government recognized institution With one year of experience.
7.3 SALARY Salary will be paid in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines.
GENERAL CRITERIA AND CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS.
1. The applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen and not more than 30 years of age and not less than 18 years.
