Job Vacancies at Temeke Municipal Council June 2026, Temeke Municipal Council, in collaboration with Sense International Tanzania (SIT), invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated Tanzanians to fill four (4) positions of Physiotherapy to support the implementation of Sensory Screening and Early Intervention
services in selected primary health care facilities within Temeke Municipality.

1. JOB TITLE: PHYSIOTHERAPIST (4 Posts)

DUTY STATION: Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam

2. BACKGROUND

Sense International Tanzania is a Non-Governmental Organization registered in Tanzania under Registration No. 00NGO/R1/00523. It is part of Sense International, a UK-registered charity working globally to support people with deaf blindness and multiple disabilities in resourcеlimited settings. Since 2008, Sense International Tanzania has been implementing programmes in Early Identification and Intervention, Inclusive Education, and Livelihood Improvement for persons with deaf blindness and multiple sensory impairments.

Through this collaboration, Temeke Municipal Council aims to strengthen early detection, referral, and intervention services for children with sensory impairments and developmental challenges.

3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Sensory Screening

Coordinate sensory screening activities conducted by nurses and Community Health Workers (CHWs), including both first-stage risk factor screening and second-stage hearing and vision assessments.
Compile and submit screening reports to health facility management and relevant authorities.

3.2 Early Intervention Services

Conduct functional assessments to determine eligibility for Early Intervention services and facilitate appropriate referrals. Provide rehabilitation services, including sensory stimulation, in accordance with the Early Intervention Protocol, curriculum, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Advise on appropriate assistive devices, developmental toys, and learning materials.

Train and support parents/caregivers on early stimulation techniques and daily living skills for children.

Develop and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for enrolled children.

Conduct regular (at least quarterly) home visits to support inclusive care and accessibility in home and pre-school environments.

Provide counselling services to children and their families.

Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including medical practitioners, physiotherapists, social workers, CHWs, and other stakeholders.

Facilitate transition of children from Early Intervention programmes to pre-primary and primary education.

3.3 Early Intervention Unit Management

Coordinate daily operations of the Early Intervention Unit under the guidance of facility management.

Manage requisition, utilization, and accountability of therapy and office equipment and supplies.

Maintain an updated asset register.

Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of screening and therapy equipment.

Manage patient data (electronic and hard copy) in compliance with confidentiality requirements.

Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports to facility management, Temeke

Municipal Council, Sense International Tanzania, and other relevant authorities.

3.4 Community Awareness and Outreach

Coordinate community sensitization, awareness campaigns, and outreach screening activities in collaboration with health facility management.

3.5 Other Responsibilities

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

Adhere to professional codes of conduct and ethics.

Comply with all applicable policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and data

protection policies.

Report any issues that may affect service delivery or the reputation of the Government of Tanzania and partners.

4. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.

Must be registered with the relevant professional board (where applicable).

Experience in working with children, particularly those with disabilities or sensory impairments, will be an added advantage. a Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively within community and health facility settings.

5. REMUNERATION
A gross monthly allowance of TZS 800,000 will be provided to cover transport and meal costs.

Statutory deductions, including PAYE, will apply in accordance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regulations.

Payments will be made monthly upon submission of approved timesheets.

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS

Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens with legal rights to work in Tanzania.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo background checks in line with safeguarding requirements.

The positions are project-based and subject to specified contract terms.
