Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at the University of Rwanda 2026/2027 , Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at the University of Rwanda 2026/2027 , The Internationalization and Convocation Unit is pleased to inform MUHAS staff, alumni, students, and other eligible applicants of the opportunity to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda (MCF-SP@UR) for the 2026/2027 academic year (Cohort 3).

The fully funded postgraduate scholarship supports outstanding and economically disadvantaged young Africans to pursue eligible two-year Master’s degree programmes at the University of Rwanda.

The programme aims to develop transformative leaderswho will contribute to sustainable development across Africa, with particular emphasis on women in STEM, refugees, displaced youth, and persons with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

I. Be a citizen of Rwanda or any African country. Refugee applicants must provide certification from UNHCR, MINEMA, or another recognized legal agency.

II. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the intended Master’s programme at the University of Rwanda.

III. Be under 40 years of age (male applicants) or under 45 years of age (female applicants)
at the time of application.

IV. Demonstrate economic disadvantage, refugee status, disability, or other forms of vulnerability.

V. Demonstrate leadership potential and active community engagement.

VI. Not be currently enrolled in another tertiary institution.

VII. Be applying for admission as a first-time Master’s student (continuing students are not eligible).

VIII. Apply for an eligible two-year Master’s programme, with priority given to STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programmes.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides:

I. Full tuition fees, and monthly living stipend.

III. Laptop and learning materials.

IV. Annual return ticket allowance.

V. Psychosocial support services.

VI. Academic mentorship and tutoring.

VII. Career guidance, internships, and industry mentorship.

VIII. Leadership development programmes, community service activities, and the “Go Back Give Back” initiative.

IX. Membership in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Alumni Network.

Apply for admission to an eligible University of Rwanda Master’s programme for the September 2026 intake.

Complete the online Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application form.
