New Vacancies at Barrick Mining August 2026, The North Mara gold mine is located in north-west Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.

North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit). The process plant has the capacity to process an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore per day.

1: Trainer – Technical

Job Description

The Technical Trainer – Open Cast (OC) is responsible for delivering, assessing, and verifying technical, operational, and safety-related training programs for Open Cast Mining personnel. The role ensures employees and contractors develop and maintain the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational, regulatory, and company standards.

The Technical Trainer works closely with the Training Coordinator – OC, supervisors, and subject matter experts to support workforce capability development, competency management, operator progression, and operational excellence.

Training Delivery

Deliver high-quality technical and operational training programs to Open Cast employees and contractors.

•    Conduct classroom, practical, field-based, and on-the-job training.

•    Deliver new employee inductions and role-specific training.

•    Facilitate equipment, operational, and safety training programs.

•    Support implementation of learning pathways and development programs.

•    Adapt training methods to meet workforce and operational needs.

•    Promote safe work practices through effective training delivery.

Competency Assessment and Verification

Assess and verify employee competence against approved standards and requirements.

•    Conduct competency assessments and workplace observations.

•    Verify practical skills, knowledge, and operational capability.

•    Collect and maintain assessment evidence.

•    Recommend competency sign-off and operator authorizations.

•    Participate in reassessments and refresher competency programs.

•    Ensure assessments meet company and regulatory requirements.
