Position: Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Inspector – Simba Cement

Areas of responsibility: –

Reports to: SHE Manager

Main duties

• Provide efficient and effective assistance in the management of the company’s Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) programs, practices, policies and standards, for the company to achieve it’s SHE objectives.

• Implementing NOSA and ISO systems.

• Daily presence within the plant to ensure proper housekeeping standards are kept.

• Spread SHE awareness through leading by example and training.

• Conduct daily inspections within the plant.

• Attend monthly departmental SHE meetings.

• Develop daily reports on inspections; data sourcing for monthly reports; follow-up SHE compilation and reports as well as reporting any unsafe acts or conditions.

• Carry out daily SHE topics within your area of responsibilities.

• Track, ensure reporting and follow up correction of SHE non-conformances.

• Inspect daily permits to work permits and ensure proper adherence to procedure.

• Assist with compliance with the country’s applicable legislation and to follow up any updates.

• Inspect the company’s facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and compliance with SHE regulations and standards.

• Participate in SHE investigations and assist with recommendation.

• Actively participate in the planning and execution of emergency evacuation drills.

• Ensure OSHA compliance as per company and statutory requirements.

• Observe relevant environmental policies and regulations.

• Compliance to HM Group Code of Business Conduct, Compliance Polices and Guidelines.

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum requirements (Qualifications)

 

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Health and Environment; Occupational Health and Safety; Disaster and Safety Management; Industrial Safety and Risk Management; Process Safety Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial) or any other related field.

• Certification in NEBOSH/SAMTRAC/NOSHC/NOSA or its equivalent.

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001and general EMS implementation.

• Knowledge of NOSA system and/or any Safety system.

• At least 3 years of experience in SHE.

• Good understanding of OSHA and environmental legislative requirements.

• Understands how to manage and coordinate internal audits, site inspections, induction programs.

• Good knowledge of work permits, risk assessment and Hazard Analysis.

• Ability to design and deliver safety training programs.

• Good report writing and presentation skills.

• Excellent record management and documentation skills.

• Good knowledge of Ms365.

• Proactive attitude.

• Able to respond to heavy demands and high work pressure.

• Totally honest and trustworthy.

• Meticulous attention to detail.

• Good team playing abilities.
