Job Vacancies at Songwe District Council September 2026, The Director of Songwe District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for five (5) job positions in this Council after obtaining approval from the Secretary-General, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance with the following breakdown: –
1.0 CLASS II DRIVER – FOUR (4) POSITIONS
1.1 EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Employees must have a Form IV certificate and a Class E or C driving license that they have worked for at least one (1) year without causing an accident along with training certificates that qualified them to obtain the relevant classes.
They must have attended a Basic Driving Course provided by VETA College or another College recognized by the Government.
1.1.1 DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
i. Inspecting the vehicle before and after the trip to determine the safety condition of the vehicle;
ii. Sending employees to various locations on business trips;
iii. Carrying out minor vehicle repairs;
iv. Collecting and distributing various documents;
v. Filling in and maintaining all trip information in the trip log;
vi. Cleaning the vehicle; and
vii. Performing other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
1.1.2 SALARY LEVEL TGS B
1.2 OFFICE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY GRADE II – ONE (1) POSITION
1.2.1 EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
To be employed with a Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) education along with a Diploma in Accounting or a NTA Level 6 Accounting Certificate from any institution recognized by the Government.
In addition, he/she must have passed the 100 words per minute Swahili and English typing test and have received training in office computer programs such as: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet, Email and Publisher.
1.2.2 DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS.
i. Typing letters, reports and regular documents;
ii. Helping to receive visitors and listen to their problem and direct them to areas where they can be addressed;
iii. Helping to maintain information / records of Events, Appointments, Visitors, dates of meetings, Trips of his/her Head and other work schedules planned to be implemented
iv. in the Office he/she works in and notifying his/her Head at the required time;
v. Helping to resolve and provide his/her Head with files, documents or anything required in work activities in the Office;
vi. Helping to convey his/her Head’s information to his/her assistants and informing him/her about any information that has been given to him/her by those assistants;
vii. Assist in receiving files, distributing them to officers in his/her area and collecting, maintaining and returning them to the relevant areas; and
viii. Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by his/her Supervisor.
1.2.3 SALARY LEVEL TGS C
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
i. All applicants must be Tanzanian Citizens and between the ages of 18 and 45 years.
ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and should describe their disabilities on the Application Form for information to the Public Service Employment Secretariat;
iii. Applicants for Driver II cadre with Class E or C licenses should ATTACH Driver training certificates that qualified them to obtain the relevant classes.
iv. All applicants should attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae with valid address, contact telephone numbers and E-mail address along with the names of three reliable referees.
v. Applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions in the Public Service should not apply and should adhere to the instructions contained in Document No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010.
vi. All applications should be accompanied by educational and professional certificates certified by a Lawyer/Attorney which are Form Four or Six certificates for those who have reached that level and certificates of various training courses based on the qualifications of the relevant job Diploma/Certificates, – Form IV and VI examination certificate, – Computer Certificate, – Professional Certificate from Respective Boards.
vii. “Testmonial“, ‘‘Provisional Results“, “Statement of results“, Form IV and Form VI RESULTS SLIPS (FORM IV AND FORM VI RESULTS SLIPS) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
viii. Applicants who studied abroad should ensure that their certificates are verified and certified by the relevant Authorities (TCU, NECTA and NACTE).
ix. Applicants who have retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have approval from the Principal Secretary;
x. Submission of false information and qualifications will be subject to legal action.
xi. The deadline for submitting applications is September 13, 2026.
