The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents.

The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria.

The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Applications are invited from ambitious, energetic and performance driven individuals to fill in vacant position(s) mentioned below:

1: POSITION: Operator 3 Longhole Drill

DEPARTMENT: Underground Mining

LOCATION: Geita Gold Mine Tanzania

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

  • Carry out underground production drilling of precise blast holes into ore bodies and drill service holes and cable bolt holes.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Operate longhole drilling equipment safely and productively within OEM specifications to meet or exceed daily targets.
  • Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques and components to maintain penetration and prevent drifter, shank, rotation, and hole issues.
  • Un-bog and remove rods; use back hammer per OEM; if unsuccessful, mark the hole, consult supervisor and planning engineer, drill a second hole, and plug or grout the original hole.
  • Remove cuttings and sludge to keep drill holes clean, preventing bit blockage and rod bogging.
  • Complete required documentation accurately, including meters drilled, re-drills, ground conditions, delays, hole length variations, hazards, consumables, and rig/job status.
  • Protect equipment by operating within rpm limits and best practices, perform operator maintenance, and work with minimal supervision to achieve 125–200 m per shift.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Completion of Secondary School Education or Advanced Level Education or Diploma in Mining or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Valid Driving License (added advantage).

Experience

  • A minimum of at least 5 years of underground mining experience started in development or as UG Operator before transitioning to a Solo rig.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Read and understand daily production shift plans.
  • General overview of underground mining processes and terminologies.
  • Experience in operating Sandvik DL421 or DL420 series.
  • Ability to read geological markings, identify varying rock hardness, and manage hole deviation.
  • Ability to assess ground conditions, scale loose rock, and strictly adhere to underground safety protocols.
  • First Aid knowledge; good written and oral communication skills in English; excellent hand and eye coordination; ability to maintain high standards of housekeeping; strong work ethics; physically and mentally fit; principles of reporting; cross shift communication; proper planning and execution; coaching new employees; good interpersonal skills.

2: POSITION: Specialist – Mine Planning (OP & UG)

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

The Specialist – Mine Planning (OP & UG) role is a strategically critical role for Geita Gold Mine (GGM) exclusively focussing on supporting both Open Pit and Underground Planning Superintendents to develop an effective team capable of delivering the life of mine plan (LOM), extracting value from both open pit and underground mining operations.

This role requires dedicated oversight to ensure strategic objectives and targets are achieved. The role is also responsible for internal assessment of the skills and competencies of the current team to ensure our skilled resources are better utilized. This position will foster a culture of integration between the OP and UG planning teams allowing for cross functional discipline exposure and experience.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide specialist support on the development of asset options to optimise the value of GGM within the AngloGold Ashanti portfolio, providing recommendations to the Planning Manager and Senior Manager Technical Services on the preferred options
  • Support delivery of the annual budget for the Strategic Planning Department, ensuring annual accuracy within 5% for the next two calendar years commensurate with the confidence of the LOM plan for the full asset life
  • Integrate long, medium- and short-term plans between the open pit and underground operations to deliver key physicals and an ore blend plan that meets or exceeds the approved budget.
  • Manage performance to plan by monitoring KPIs, identifying variances via analysis/audits, and rectifying through design updates, rescheduling, and cross-team collaboration to ensure targets are delivered
  • Support delivery of all work packages related to the annual Mineral Reserve Reporting for open pit and underground operations in accordance with the S-K 1300 code and AngloGold Ashanti guidelines.
  • Build organisational competency of the planning team – train, coach, guide, and mentor.
  • Develop integrated systems for the planning department that align superintendent-level processes to enable effective work planning, ensuring comprehensive performance monitoring, maximising work efficiency and reducing rework.
  • Drive value creation across Strategic Planning by supporting the ideation and implementation of initiatives in line with the Full Asset Potential program.
  • Ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance; this includes promoting a safe and healthy work environment by modelling and applying standard work procedures. Identify and manage risks and hazards in the workplace, conduct regular safety audits and investigate incidents to implement corrective actions, while ensuring strict compliance with applicable regulations
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, business partners, regulators, government, and other stakeholders, utilizing these relationships to successfully resolve issues if, or when, they arise.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) or relevant mining discipline and experience
  • Engineering Registration board
  • Competent Person in accordance with S-K 1300, JORC, SAMREC or NI43-101

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 10 years’ experience in combined OP and UG mining operations and studies management of mine evaluation and optimization
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling software (Deswik, Studio UG, EPS, Ventsim, Vulcan, Mineable Stope Optimiser (MSO), Micromine Spry, Rapid Reserver
  • Broad range of skills spanning resource and reserve estimation, OP and UG mine design, infrastructure specification, OP and UG mine scheduling, equipment selection, cost estimation, strategic planning, discounted cash flow analysis, budgeting, contractor, and consultant management.
  • Sound understanding of the geological value and risk drivers in the business unit
  • Geological and Geotechnical understanding.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To safely perform planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance tasks using correct work methods and safety precautions, complete work to the required quality standard and on time, and release equipment safely to the mining operation team.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance and repair tasks on mining equipment in line with approved procedures and required quality standards.
  • Inspect equipment, identify defects or damage, document findings, and escalate to the Supervisor for further action.
  • Perform all work in accordance with GGM safety standards, safe work practices, and OEM requirements.
  • Plan work before execution and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes to support efficient use of resources.
  • Report unsafe equipment immediately and confirm task completion to the Supervisor after repairs are completed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and undertake any other work as required or directed.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Form Four Secondary Education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One or Trade Test Level Three in Mechanic.
  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Valid Tanzania Driving License.
  • No criminal record.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience as a Mechanic in the maintenance of Norment Machines, CAT777D, 777E, 785C, and 785D trucks, Caterpillar machines, RH 40 and 170, and CAT640 excavators.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of Norment and CAT equipment.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read and understand manual maintenance books.
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental issues.
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in Swahili and English.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Support the HME Senior Supervisor and HE Workshop Manager to ensure Geita Gold Mine complies with government, internal and insurance environmental requirements across HME and LME areas.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Promote safe work practices and ensure all tasks are performed in line with GGM safety standards and environmental procedures.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections, communication schedules, checklists, and internal and external audit activities for HME and LME areas.
  • Enforce compliance with legal requirements, hazardous materials procedures, waste management strategy, and environmental standards, and follow up actions from inspections and audits.
  • Support environmental awareness through training, toolbox meetings, technical guidance, and close engagement with contractors, HSE Representatives, and the environment team.
  • Monitor waste segregation, 5S standards, scrap and salvage yard housekeeping, spill kits, washing ponds, water separators, and hydrocarbon spill prevention controls.
  • Report environmental issues, injuries, illnesses and incidents promptly, track action plans, and help maintain environmental performance across Engineering work areas.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Form four Certificate.
  • Trade level certification in mechanical trades or further engineering studies in maintenance management or environmental related aspects.
  • Grade one Trade Test certificate, Diploma or FTC in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Environmental.
  • Valid Tanzania Driving License.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in environment and mobile equipment preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in a supervisory role accountable for a team of up to twenty people operating on continuous shift rosters.
  • Experience in creating scopes of work for contracted projects.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good computer skills in MS Office and SAP.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, tele-handlers and boom truck.
  • Knowledge of waste segregation, spill prevention, and workshop environmental controls.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Interpersonal, leadership, initiative and coordination skills, with the ability to work across cross functional teams.
